@heymrsbond - SO MUCH TESTING - state tests, district test, MAP, etc etc - developmentally inappropriate curriculum - “pass everyone” mentality - school day is way too long and I also dislike the “bell to bell” mentality as if students don’t need a break

@heymrsbond Agreed! The questions on STAAR are ridiculous and if the kids are not taught the specific wording, they’ll never get it. The next 2 months in Texas are all test prep and little real learning.

@heymrsbond Can we blame them? Especially in TX where we try to close the COVID “learning loss gap” With ridiculous amounts of testing. My own, very smart, kid has said he hates school many times . It makes me sad bc it’s not hard for him so there’s other elements in play here.

@ModestTeacher I don’t think ANY students need 8 hours of school. It should be 6. 1 hour for each core subject, an hour for lunch/recess and an hour for specials.

In college, I took 2-3 classes a day. Why do we assume high school students need 8 hours of classes each day?
