Antidepressant efficacy is rather low, they just simply don't work for most people which is why the antidepressant carousel is a thing and the side effects of many SSRIs and SNRIs are extremely harsh People "talk badly" about antidepressants because of their personal experiences

I went to my doctor after losing my health and everything else in my life that meant something. This is someone who had known me as a person and my character my entire life. I thought I was finally going to get help when I told him I had Long COVID. Instead, I was gaslit and told to do “Yoga by Adriene,” which he wrote on a prescription pad with a smirk on his face. After I explained, from a scientific standpoint, why that doesn’t work for people with dysautonomia, he called me a know-it-all and asked what I was even there for. He also said he wouldn’t complete any disability paperwork, even though I’ve been out of work for 4 years.
