Those New to Bitcoin's Runes often ask but What To Buy there's So Many ?? Good News - there are only a small fraction worth holding. (I've been watching and trading in the scene since before the Runes protocol launch in April 2024 at the Halving. Factors to Consider when buying Runes; (1) Are the Teams/Communities Committed and Posting ? - Attention and Perseverance are Top, along with quality of Art and Memes. It's a Marathon not a Sprint. Plenty try hard for a week then disappear at the first dip in price. (2) Are they Held by Big Money Wallets ? - As distasteful as it may sound to some, these markets move through word of mouth and through networks. Rich crypto people essentially onboard each other into what they like and hold. The wealthy are in it for the long haul and see the bigger picture. This allows for possible big returns down the road. (3) Is the Rune a Scam or Grift ? There are different parts to this; Was it Premined ? Was it a Low Max Mint ? Is it a flash in the pan Pump and Dump ? (4) Potential Risk vs Reward ? Some Micro cap runes are low for a reason and some of the Biggest Market Cap Runes may be overvalued. - Runes may gain in dollar value as Bitcoin soars but tying up your Sats in them may mean you are not going to win as big as you might in other Runes. Is Spreading your risk between the big money bankers and some mid and low caps the best way to go ? (5) More Runes Incoming. Make no mistake there are more great Runes coming in the future. So Save some Sats. So far we have seen a few cycles. The 'OG Runes' (April/May/June) then came a lull with little fresh Rune activity (July/Aug/Sept). The token is decentralised incredibly well. It's the perfect mid curve play. Cute fluffy and fun. The Dog of Bitcoin. Meme price goal of $100 Billion is compelling. All exchanges will one day hold it. Some people may jump in and out and try to trade it, for me its the Bitcoin of Runes you'll always want to Hodl some because its going much higher and will always be liquid when you need it to be. Sats Price Now; 7.2 RSIC•GENESIS•RUNE Grade: C/B It's the OG Rune that sparked the pre-rune meta. However the team are opaque and we don't know what they are planning if anything. Plenty of people have moved on, yet plenty more still hold. Who knows one tweet could send this charging up over a billion and beyond. It's a coin toss at this stage yet they still command respect and have a large Market cap around 4th/5th largest Rune. If your bags are deep you'll want to hold a little just in case. Sats Price Now; 3.33 BILLION•DOLLAR•CAT Grade: A Best Meme on Runes. Professional Team. Bullish and dedicated holders. Everyone now wishes they bought more when they first saw it. It's got an obvious destiny of a Billion $ and beyond. Sats Price Now; 106 PUPS•WORLD•PEACE Grade: A Bitcoin Puppets is the Ordinal community and Pups represents the token of that community. World Peace is a strong meme meta yet if it was just Pups by itself it would be Graded lower. This token encompasses a lot for a lot of different people. It gives people who can't afford a puppet a chance to be onboard. It's also a safe and obvious listing for future tier one exchanges. Sats Price Now; 253 GIZMO•IMAGINARY•KITTEN Grade: A What may seem to some as a simple and badly drawn kitten has become the Pups favoured pet with a creative life of it's own. It's fairly well decentralised, a lot of rich holders and plenty of Memes. Sats Price Now; 31 DECENTRALIZED Grade: C/B Great name, Rune #2, a lot of holders but struggles in the attention game. I'm just not that bullish on it yet it's got some solidity to it and will no doubt catch bids just because. If it pivots into some kind of a utility token in future it would really cook. It does have a wealthy community holding it that's always promising. Sats Price Now; 0.446 MEMENTO•MORI Grade: B Due to it's early large valuation and lack of Meme ability it's moved sideways. I would be bearish if it was etched by anyone else. The fact that it's the Rune Father @rodarmor means it will likely get press and buys in the future. Name is cool and spiritual. Sats Price Now; 147 SATOSHI•NAKAMOTO Grade: C Obviously great name and number Rune #6 however still has it's 20% Premine. If the etcher burns the premine to Satoshi's wallet this will send and I think do great long term. For now it's a coin toss. It was one of the most expensively Mined Runes so either a lot of people sold out at a loss or they're hodling on. Sats Price Now; 539 LOBO•THE•WOLF•PUP Grade: B/A Lobo's Solid. It doesn't quite have the rabid tenacity of some other Meme communities but - the team are obviously wealthy and connected and have put a lot of work into creating some good art scenes and now an Ordinals collection. It's a solid runes play and will likely get future top tier exchange listings. Sats Price Now; 1.62 CYPHER•GENESIS Grade: A This is basically the Billy Cat of Ai Runes. It's Satoshi AI and a very impressive version. The Dev is based and well connected. If this is your only AI Rune you'll do fine. @cyphergenesisAI Sats Price Now; 19 Z•Z•Z•Z•Z•FEHU•Z•Z•Z•Z•Z Grade: C I'd love to give Fehu an F grade but we just don't know. At huge expense the 1.1 Million Fehu were Minted and the Etcher is still sitting on the 99% Premine. I'm sure one day it will either be Airdropped or Burnt however it continues to fall in price. Another coin toss. Sats Price Now; 6600 POOKA•CANNOT•BE•STOPPED Grade: B Pooka's currently stopped. Yet he's solid, he's got some great flashy memes and is fairly decentralised amongst a bunch of wealthy holders. One of it's issues was its cost to Mint almost $2 Million at the time (Gizmo was around $500,000 by comparison). Another issue was apparent infighting amongst OMB holders. For now it's priced back around it's mint price so it could be argued it's a great buying opportunity. Sats Price Now; 0.70 THE•DONALD•TRUMP Grade: B It's must have if you're a big Trump fan. This is the Trump Rune. The guy has been bull posting since the start. It's a political rune and for now they're maybe not as fancied so have pulled back. As more Trumpers enter the Runes space, and as world narratives change, it should pick up again. Sats Price Now; 0.95 WADDLE•WADDLE•PENGU Grade: B Waddle had great early Rune success but struggled and under went a community take over. Like most runes it struggles in the attention game but is doing it's best. It's cutesy and not offensive plus a lot of big wallets hold it so it should do well. Sats Price Now; 6.7 SAIKO•HAMSTER Grade: A This'll never be to everyone's taste but its damn funny at times and the interns are based af. Noone's crushed it in the trenches like the Saiko team and they deserve a lot of kudos for that. I'm not sure where it's ceiling is at but it's certainly a lot higher than where it's at today. Sats Price Now; 248 CATS•IN•THE•SATS Grade: B/A Cats made a huge splash soon after etching going on an unbelievable tear. Sadly they crashed back to earth rather hard and Billy took the cat crown from them. They've a good team and although they've dialled back their meme game somewhat I expect them to be relevant again in future. Sats Price Now; 89.7 WANKO•MANKO•RUNES Grade: B What to say about Wanko Manko? For newbies it may seem an odd choice of a meme but you've got to study the lore young padawan. Out the annals of lord Casey himself scrawled the tale. It'll never be too everyone's taste but the Rune OG's will no doubt send it once again at some point. Sats Price Now; 53.9 BAMK•OF•NAKAMOTO•DOLLAR Grade: C Bamk is one of those utility Runes that I never quite understood. It went on an unbelievable run up in May and has since crashed back. There may be someone out there who can explain it's prospects to you. For me it's a coin toss. Sats Price Now; 0.95 RUNESCAPE•GOLD Grade: F I can't find their X page, and they haven't attached it to their Luminex profile or their Magic Eden buy page. How this has almost 7 Million in Volume I don't know. I thought this was a Rune relating to a game. It might be or it might be a scam. Either way it gets an F for now. Sats Price Now; 0.043 BASED•INTERNET•PANDA Grade: A BIP crushes. The team are great and they are up their with Saiko as high bar setting Trench Warriors. Got a lot going for them as they got a good mix of cutesy and edgy. Plus Panda. Sats Price Now; 12.6 STUPID•SILLY•CAT Grade: C/B Silly's got some good memes however their meme game has lost momentum recently. I feel they could cook with some more interns. I haven't spoken with their team so it's a bit of a coin toss. My expectation is they'll pick things back up again in future. Sats Price Now; 0.365 EPIC•EPIC•EPIC•EPIC Grade: B I might have given Epic a lower grade if it wasn't for the fact it's market cap is somewhat on the floor rn. The Premine was largely Airdropped. It cost 54 Bitcoin to Mint the available 5% supply and the total Market cap today is 32 Bitcoin ! The Team etched the Rune on an Epic Sat. That means something to some people. If Rare Sat theory takes off bigly in future then Epic will surely run. My feeling is this team are rich and well connected. They won't let this puppy die. Sats Price Now; 3.2 MR•YEN•JAPANESE•BUSINESSMAN Grade: A Mr Yen has provided holders with top draw meme content, videos songs and a lot of laughs and joy. Former CEO of Runes he is a legitimate businessman and Runes is lucky to have him. He loves his son and shares his wisdom such as 'Market wrong Mr Yen Right' and 'Good memes flow like water'. Wholesome. Sats Price Now; 114 NUSD•NUSD•NUSD•NUSD Grade: - This is the First attempt at a Runes Stablecoin. Designed by the Bamk of Nakamoto guys. I guess if you think Bitcoin is over heated in future you could buy some. Then sell it at the next bitcoin low. I wouldn't be touching it right now though. Sats Price Now; 1099 COOK•THE•MEMPOOL Grade: D Cook was pretty much a great and failed experiment into having a huge Max Mint supply. At 115 Bitcoin and over 4 Million Mints it was the most for a while until Uncommon Goods overtook it. However it never had any meme game and the community of minters never bothered doing much with it, which was the pity. Sats Price Now; 1.38 KODA•FLUFFINGTON Grade: C/B So Koda arrived on the back of Gizmo and Pooka. They say they're not affiliated with Node Monkes but I bet there is some cross pollination amongst holders. The Rune made big bank for the etcher because it only had 20,000 Mints in a very low fee environment. (It cost only 0.21 Btc to Mint the entire supply - $15,000 at the time). Recently it has picked up some cool new art styles. Sats Price Now; 0.79 BITCOIN•BRO•BEAR Grade: A Although a newish Rune, these guys are pros. Great memes and raids, good narratives, great website. if they continue on as they are they'll go real far. Sats Price Now; 9.57 SPARKY•RUNEDOG Grade: D The Sparky team abandoned the token quite recently and there is a CTO in progress. If a based team take over then it could cook. Sats Price Now; 0.19 UNCOMMON•GOODS Grade: F (for now) We're half a year into a four year Mint cycle. I have no idea who continues to Mint UG even at 2 sats or less. Some people obviously believe the hard coded rune #0 will one day be something big. My plan is to check back in 3 years time and maybe hoover up a little if the price is low enough. Sats Price Now; 185 TANUKI•WISDOM Grade: F As far as I'm aware this is a scam token. They premined the lot then sold it to unsuspecting buyers at an extortionately inflated price. Accusations of wash trading is also apparent. Avoiding. Sats Price Now; 155 GOB•IS•GOB•IS•GOB Grade: B These Gob guys are builders. They started in pre runes and have carried things on. Who knows what they're cooking up ? Sats Price Now; 2.35 ANARCHO•CATBUS Grade: D This caught a wave early on because Cassey tweeted about it if I remember correctly. other than that I don't hold too much faith in it's future. Sats Price Now; 35 RSM•RUNES•STATE•MACHINE Grade: C This is one of those complicated Runes that promise something but I don't know what. Perhaps if it delivers on what it's promising then it might Send ? Perhaps. Sats Price Now; 0.59 LIQUIDIUM•TOKEN Grade: C Liquidium is a platform where you can borrow and lend BTC. I've not tried it but I've heard good things. The liquidium token is involved somehow. 82% is currently held by the company though. If you've used their platform drop a comment about the potential of their token. Sats Price Now; 139.8 KIKA•THE•BUNNY•PLUSH Grade: B Although I'm neutral on this meme for now, it is related to the Puppets ecosystem and it's holding up quite well so far. There is a main account making memes. Hasn't quite captivated the community like Gizmo. Perhaps just needs better memes. Maybe Kika takes some music lessons like playing the saxophone. Sats Price Now; 0.55 ZBIT•BLUE•BITCOIN Grade: B ZBit's a gaming token related to Btc Machine, their ordinal collections and Satoria an mmorpg. These guys are builders and cookers. I haven't quite worked out how their token relates to all the aspects of their ecosystem. It was premined and Airdropped widely, the tokenomics is a opaque. Might full send one day, lets see. Sats Price Now; 460 BITCOIN•PEPE•MATRIX Grade: B This is the Og Pepe Rune, with no premine it had a lot of minters and holders early doors. A good team. The memes are a bit generic but we all love Bitcoin and the Matrix so that helps. I think many are under water on this one which implies to me that it's closing in on its floor. Sats Price Now; 0.1 SASHA•THE•BITCOIN•CAT Grade: F This was one of the wildest pump and dumps yet. It caught 2-3 Million in Volume and made minters the most spectacular pay day. It centred around the hbo satoshi documentary. I feel sorry for those who aped into this too late. Sats Price Now; 2.96 SGN•SHO•GA•NAI•SGN Grade: B The Sho ga nai guy, I think it's just one guy, has stuck it out and produced some good original art & memes. I think it's nearing it's floor. it's a small community but they like the meme. Sats Price Now; 0.45 AGE•OF•AQUARIUS Grade: B This is B's Rune. The Minters cooked on this one. I saw recently that someone has an X account up about it. I would grade lower if it wasn't for the fact the queen of Runes etched it. A timely name also. Sats Price Now; 19,776 OOZY•GOOZEMO Grade: B Similar to Kika, Oozy is riding on the back of Pups and Gizmo. This is the Set if you want them all. I've seen a few funny oozy memes. It was a huge mint also so that's partly why it's floor is higher than others. Sats Price Now; 1.38 RIBBIT•MAGIC•FORTUNE Grade: C Ribbit cooked before Gizmo was born and stole it's thunder. A lot of people bought in at a higher price. A few people hold and share this meme but I just checked and the main account hasn't made a post in over a week, plus their website is down. I had to downgrade it from a B to a C. Let's see if it pick up it's game once Runes truly cook. Sats Price Now; 0.0538 BASED•ANGELS•RUNE Grade: A/B Similar to my thesis on the Pups token, Based Angels is a hot crypto brand. For those that want in but can't afford a pfp ordinal they'll be able to hold some token instead. My two small issues with it are; I don't know how it was distributed, and it has a small number supply (420K) often a psychological factor for memecoins (people like the illusion that they're holding large amounts of it). Those that bought in early certainly cooked with this. Sats Price Now; 6791 RUNES•X•BITCOIN Grade: F As far as I can tell Runes X is piggy backing off elons X even using the X logo design with it's branding. It's all about a decentralised Runes network. They airdropped widely yet most of the top ten wallets hold a lot of X and not much of anything else which makes me think the insiders are up to no good. There's no website or tokenomics info so I'm avoiding. Sats Price Now; 0.00969 RED•CAT•ROMEO Grade: C This was a random mint based on a tweet about Magic Eden boss Jack Liu's cat Romeo. Most of these off the cuff Etchings are flashes in the pan and I'm bearish on them, however to be fair the account is still active and there is some potential in a Jack Liu meme which this pivots into. Sats Price Now; 13.5 PIGGED•BY•PIGGY Grade: B/A Piggy ran hot then had an internal CTO and has come back strong in recent weeks. They got a lot of meme content, a dedicated community and memorable lead character. Today's discounted price should put Piggy at an A grade, just too cheap rn. Sats Price Now; 6.5 MAGA•THE•DONALD•TRUMP Grade: D This was another large Mint, suspected from out of China but who knows? It's obviously got great name recognition. There's a chance that a tonne of Maga enthusiasts show up in Runes and start buying it, however by then the Ticker MAGA may be available to Etch and Mint and take over the Volume. Sats Price Now; 243 BYZANTINE•GENERAL Grade: D I forget what this Rune was about. It might have been etched to follow a trend on X at that time? It cooked for early Minters but has basically flatlined now. Sats Price Now; 0.62 RARE•WIZARD•ORB Grade: C I've mixed feelings on this Rune. I like that it's Rune #16, etched with a cool Gif, has some nice art and is active in the space. I'm not sure how it was distributed exactly or if it has some plans at all? There might be a wizard meta coming to Runes one day so should be on the radar for that. Sats Price Now; 0.00619 SKYNET•NEURAL•AI Grade: B A fairly dark Ai Rune. It's done great so far and the team are adaptive. If it's your thing then it's a buy. Sats Price Now; 0.85 LEEROY•JENKINS Grade: B Leeeroooy JJJennnkinnns ! This OG meme was sitting etched yet unminted for weeks then went ballistic and then crashed back to nothing. Then took off again! it proved that when new entrants arrive in Runes they'll buy a piece just because they like the og meme. Also Rune 777 is cool. It had no socials but now it does a little. I'm not overly bullish on it but it's a fun one. Sats Price Now; 4.44 MANIFEST•AI•TION Grade: C I feel this could do more, it's still a little basic and trite for my tastes. My expectation is that more and more ai agents will appear on the scene and it will get competitive. Sats Price Now; 0.8 NOOT•NOOT•MFERS Grade: A Noot's on it. They built and continue to help other teams with their ai Image generator. They work hard in the trenches and are a kind and open team. They continue to impress. Sats Price Now; 1.6 THE•TICKER•IS•ELSA Grade: C Elsa's still holding up quite strong. They never had much of a meme game, but they are a creative and adaptive team, building one of the first Rune buy bots and the first to bridge over to Solana. I'm not sure what they're cooking next if anything. Sats Price Now; 0.5 DOPE•ASS•TICKER Grade: D Dope was one of the early big long Mints. I remember being confused by the fact people were paying more to Mint than they could have bought from the market. It felt like dumb money and it hasn't done much but fall since. It may one day have a run just because but there's better places to have your sats for now. Sats Price Now; 0.0155 MEME•ECONOMICS Grade: D I'm not sure who etched Rune #7. They still hold the 20% premine. They've not linked their socials. They may be smart and wealthy but not sure what they're cooking if anything. Sats Price Now; 69.78 LEDGER•THE•FIRST•BITCOIN•DOG Grade: D This was one of those early Runes that pumped hard and then collapsed. Socials were inactive until recently. Sats Price Now; 0.045 THE•OFFICIAL•BOZO Grade: A Yozo Bozo. Now these guys know how to Meme. Aussie team pretty based. Bozo's a funny guy and they picked up their act in the trenches. I'd be surprised if this doesn't cook properly one day. It certainly deserves to. Good news is it's still cheap relatively to it's Mint cost Sats Price Now; 1.1 RETARDED•BIRD•FINANCE Grade: B This cooked early doors then crashed back. They got some good art & memes and a fun account. Perhaps they could pick up their trench game but couldn't we all ? I think undervalued. Sats Price Now; 0.189 BONES•OF•BITDOG Grade: C Bones was a premined Rune airdropped to the Bitdog ordinals holders. The Team wallet still holds 64% yet I think they are used for staking and community rewards. Art's good and they seem to be good builders. The tokens flatlined for now and I'm not ssure what they got planned. Sats Price Now; 0.215 MARX•FREN•MONKE Grade: B A quirky AI Rune etched by an industry creator who is sharing his AI agent github and a platform for others to easily create at a cost. It's too early to tell how this will go although looks promising. Sats Price Now; 1 ITS•A•FULL•MOON Grade: C/B Whomever etched and Minted this I suspect made serious bank. It was etched and minted whilst runes were in their dead summer phase so fees would have been low low. It then sent magnificently. This token along with Spice Melange are related to the Taproot Witches. I forget why they needed two tokens. I also remeber that a few people got burnt I think over whitelist allocation. The teams defo a smart bunch so they're probably cooking something. Sats Price Now; 18.5 BUTTERNUT•THE•HELL•CAT Grade: D Butternut was a friend of Casey's cat and Minters did magnificently. However it's been downwards ever since. It's got no meme game so unlikely to recover unless Casey one day decides to pump it for some reason. Sats Price Now; 14.8 ALETHEIAS•AGORA Grade: C These guys have built a trustless prediction market. So far not too many people are using it. If they do then the fate of their very low supply token should improve. Smart guys but it's a niche for now. Sats Price Now; 4000 MACKEREL•PACKS Grade: A A multi character meme ecosystem based on a real world traded currency. Great art and team (I'm on it). Building a Rune rocket feature for the website, plans for a future ordinal collection and animated cartoon series. Fun guaranteed and still cheap - #StackMacks. Sats Price Now; 0.12 NIKOLA•TESLA•GOD Grade: F Cool name yet this was some insider grift. It had a very low Max Mint (5000) at a total cost of 0.07 BTC (maybe $4K at the time) - 95% of the supply went to just 5 wallets ! They created a supply squeeze and possibly found a place to unload or wash traded it. I never met anyone buying it or memeing it. Minters made serious bank (around x2000+ from Mint to Peak). Avoid. Sats Price Now; 3.77 RE•TARD•FINANCE Grade: D This took off at the start but tanked and it looks like the team have abandoned it since early October. Dead for now. Sats Price Now; 0.004 GAMESTOP•CORPORATION Grade: D There was a Gamestop related Etching surge at some point and this caught bids. Looks dead for now Sats Price Now; 0.109 BUSH•DID•NINE•ELEVEN Grade: C We all know nine eleven was some fuckery. Minters ate well with this one. The Etcher smartly etched this at the halving (Rune #29) yet set the block opening a few weeks into the future. It's got providence but currently unloved. Let's see, if they open up the files on 9/11 this may cook for a while.. Sats Price Now; 0.013 NOTICE•ME•SENPAI Grade: B/A A recent Cook. Kinda raunchy memes and a based team. Still early days but doing great. Magic Eden's communication regarding the shutdown of their Ordinals and Runes marketplace has been the worst I have ever seen Two days before they plan to make the announcement there is an internal leak that lets a crypto journalist front run it which takes away their ability to control the narrative Then they make their official announcement except it completely lacks empathy for the Bitcoin community who believed in them for the past 3 years and for the engineers, designers, and product managers who spent years of their life building these marketplaces The cherry on top was they then tried to increase the engagement of their shutdown announcement (which is already a very weird thing to want to do) by paying Ethereum influencers to FUD Ordinals and Runes in quote posts of the announcement A week passes with zero communication and then all of a sudden a day before the shutdown Magic Eden secretly jacks up the fees on their Ordinals marketplace to twist the knife a bit more Then finally today they silently remove Ordinals and Runes from their website but there is again zero communication on X about it My timeline is full of Ordinals and Runes degens cursing out Magic Eden For example $DOG and Runestone traders paid ~$10M in fees to Magic Eden and many of us directed people to use their platform and now everyone I talk to says they regret ever using Magic Eden I also see hundreds of posts of angry $ME token holders who are down 99% but aren't allowed to unstake The lesson in all of this is to take communication seriously Given how volatile the crypto space is people are actually very understanding when a company has to shut down a product due to running out of money or market conditions because it happens all the time But you have to communicate and at least try to make it appear like you care about your users and employees a little Myself and many others were planning on having Magic Eden part ways with Bitcoin on good terms as I do genuinely believe they provided a lot of value to this ecosystem especially in the early days by delivering a reliable, trusted product when others weren't able to however now I just have a bad taste in my mouth and I'm happy that they are leaving and think we are much better off without them now that we see their true colors
