@glagstonegame I really like the look. One note, I think the water looks a little too high, relative to the land. A small drop off where the land meets the water, and having the water meet at the bottom to middle of that drop off would help make the land pop.

While making GlagStone, I was inspired by late-80s Macintosh aesthetics — monochrome screens, tiny windows, dense little menus, and early city builders like SimCity on classic Mac.
I wanted the game to feel like building a whole island inside an old black-and-white computer.
That’s why GlagStone became a strict 1-bit city builder.

Been reading our kids The Rainbow Goblins (1978) recently. Even though it’s 10x wordier than modern children’s books, the artwork is so captivating they scan every page and point at every detail as we go.
Art and effort will always be the antidotes to slop.

Why do 1980's Sesame Street books look so much better than modern versions? Look at the first 3 images vs the last. The first has warm colors, tiny details in background, imperfect shapes, background is packed with cool things to find. In the 1970s and 80s an illustrator Joe Mathieu drew many of the Sesame Street books. I was gifted one of his books and read it to my kids each night. I fell in love with the drawings so I've been buying all his work on eBay. Some of the books cost $200! But look at the illustrations. It's all done by hand. Watercolor and colored pencil. Imperfect edges, the pigment pooling in the corners, that's what makes it feel warm. Compare this to modern Sesame Street books. Colors from a digital picker, cranked to max saturation, more perfect shapes. Its like the book is a screen. They hurt your eyes. Somebody sat at a desk with a brush and made the old ones. That's the difference.

@grantadever I got a separate laptop so I can run coding agents in yolo mode without access to my credentials or private data, and that's been the most productive way to work.

@grantadever I spent a while recreating Openclaw features from scratch on a Linode VPS. Lots of fun and I added a lot of features, but I ultimately didn't find it very useful.
