The spirit/soul of Jesus the man are merged with God "The Son". Jesus gave up the spirit meaning left the body behind and entered a different realm hades and then paradise. Only God can give up the spirit Himself. You and I cannot decide to drop our body and move to hades. There is a heresy which is called Nestorianism that looks at Jesus as man and as God seperately as two different people basically. We don't do that as christians. So to answer clearly: both went through the physical process of death.

What doesn't? Sometimes I post these things so people at least criticize me correctly. If I said muslims believe in flying blue cows you would (rightfully) say I am crazy. So I post what I (and others) actually believe. Feel free to criticize that instead of a straw man. Example: Christians do not believe God can cease to exist.
