I knew this was a lie when I was watching it. And now it is confirmed as a lie. He told this ridiculous story with members of his cabinet sitting next to him. They played along with his obvious lie. There has not been a public official in my lifetime who is so shameless. Our society operates with the thought that people who do bad things like lying, covering up crimes, corruption, etc can be shamed. We don’t have a societal mechanism for people as shameless as our president. It’s amazing how he has tapped into this culture/society weak point and turned it into an entire way of operating.
