On this Memorial Day, we honor every American who gave everything for this country.
We helped deliver nearly $1 billion for military installations across South Carolina, including a $212 million investment for USCG Base Charleston and a new $30.6 million VA clinic coming to Beaufort County.
We protected Parris Island, secured more than $400 million in federal grants for South Carolina communities, redirected $15 million to Navy Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation, and preserved the Army Prepositioned Stocks Afloat program to strengthen global combat readiness.
We also introduced the Accountable Leadership for Veterans Act, endorsed by the American Legion, the VAMOSA Act to improve oversight of the VA’s billion-dollar software budget, and the Veterans for Mustangs Act to help connect veterans with meaningful work opportunities.
As governor, I will continue our efforts statewide.
Our service members and veterans kept their promise to America. We must keep ours to them.

On this Memorial Day, I am thinking of my late father.
My father, Brigadier General James Emory Mace, passed away on April 14. He was a son of the Lowcountry, a Citadel graduate, a two-tour Vietnam veteran, and one of the most decorated soldiers in South Carolina history.
In Vietnam, he personally led his men through enemy fire, helped rescue the crew of a downed helicopter, carried wounded soldiers to safety, and stayed behind to direct fire dangerously close to his own position so every one of his men could make it home.
For his extraordinary heroism, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross.
That was my father. He stayed behind so others could go home.
Today, I honor him and every man and woman who gave everything for this country. We will never forget.
Rest easy, General.

On this Memorial Day, we gather to honor the men and women who laid down their lives in the service of our nation.
Their courage is the silent foundation upon which our Republic stands, and their sacrifice is the price paid for the liberties we hold dear.
"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."
- John 15:13
We will never forget. May God bless our fallen heroes, and may He continue to bless the United States of America. 🇺🇸

Not a single day passes without my father on my mind. He served 28 years in the Army, saw three tours of combat, and earned every commendation short of the Medal of Honor. He was The Citadel’s most decorated combat vet. Listening to Taps from his funeral a few short weeks ago, the weight of tomorrow is in focus.
Tonight, we pause for Memorial Day. To the soldiers who made it home, and to those who gave their last full measure of devotion in service of our nation: we will never forget you.
God bless every single one.

What reason could these states have to refuse to share their voter-registration data with DOJ?
I can’t think of a legitimate one.

South Carolina families deserve to achieve the American dream.
Our government has had decades to modernize the tax code and make homeownership more accessible. Instead, they let outdated laws sit untouched while families pay the price.
We have a plan. We have the legislation. It's time to give hard-working families a shot.

We introduced the Protect American Fisheries Act to strengthen protections for U.S. fisheries and coastal communities against foreign interference and illegal fishing.
South Carolina's fishing industry is the backbone of our coastal economy and our way of life. For far too long, foreign actors have cheated the system with illegal fishing and forced labor. This bill finally brings real accountability.
We will ALWAYS go to bat for our South Carolina shrimpers and fishermen.
