I agree with you. Truly I do. But I also think Macron and Ramaphosa ha e a solid relationship. I am sure they talked and agreed that jeopardising the Summit - when RSA is not a G7 country anyway, is not worth the noise. Give Trump his silly victories (on behalf of Israel). France has opposed the USA on significant issues and probably calculated that this one was not major. Although I think principles matter and should not be compromised. Giving an inch to a bully is not a good idea. I guess that's why you and I are not diplomats because we would have said "Tsek. Fine. Don't come ke wena."

I do not and will not ever be a DA fan, but we must get rid of the ANC (and their branch, the EFF). For this reason only I will support the DA because it has the numbers. But it will never be my 1st choice. To save South Africa, we must destroy the ANC, we have no choice.

@Martin_ASFL You left out the most important part. Steenhuisen's incompetence and dishonesty is not up for debate, it's factual and yet the DA covered for him in various ways and transparency and accountability are only election slogans

I foresaw it the moment the possibility of an ANC-DA coalition started being talked about in serious terms. I warned in November 2022 for the first time that a coalition with the ANC would co-opt the DA. Today, a DA minister celebrates overruling farmers because he thinks they are so evil or stupid that they would poison their own herds with fake vaccines. To him, only the august, competent, philosopher kings that is the South African civil service can decide such delicate matters. That his party is not at least restraining his rhetoric around this is bordering on unforgivable.
