The African National Congress (ANC) mourns the passing of Comrade Nicholas "Fink" Haysom, a principled lawyer, committed anti-apartheid activist and international public servant whose life was dedicated to justice, reconciliation and peace. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, comrades and colleagues across the world who walked this path of justice with him and may his soul rest in peace, and his legacy continue to inspire those who labour for freedom and peace.

Yesterday, the First Deputy Secretary-General of the ANC, Cde Nomvula Mokonyane, participated in the ANC Women’s League Colloquium under the theme: “The Global Impact of War on Vulnerable Communities.” The engagement highlighted how conflicts disproportionately affect women, children and marginalised communities, deepening poverty, displacement and social instability. The 1st DSG emphasised the need for strengthened global solidarity, peace-building and people-centred responses, reaffirming the critical role of progressive women’s movements in advancing justice, peace and human dignity.

The ANC welcomes decisive by-election victories in Ward 32 (Buffalo City Metro) and Ward 14 (Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality) in the Eastern Cape, reflecting the continued confidence of communities in the movement to lead, serve and deliver. We thank the people, volunteers, activists and supporters whose collective effort secured these victories, and congratulate Cde Thembinkosi Sobende and Cde Nceba Mtyana. These outcomes reaffirm that the ANC remains a trusted instrument of the people, with renewal in action and service to our communities at the centre. The ANC lives. The ANC leads. Renewal continues.
