We are deeply disappointed that the interim child poverty targets have been missed. Too many families are still struggling to make ends meet. We simply need Holyrood & Westminster to do more for children (1/4)
Save the Children Scotland@SaveChildrenSCO

Today's child poverty stats show that positive policy choices, including the Scottish Child Payment are making a difference, but not nearly enough is being done to give all children a decent start in life.

"Decision makers must take urgent and bold action to reduce poverty rates for Scotland’s tiniest citizens, so they can enjoy the healthy, happy and thriving childhoods they deserve. There must be no limits to childhood, or to what a child can achieve."
Paul Hutcheon@paulhutcheon

EXC: A Scots charity has called for a £100m boost for parents to cut baby poverty rates in low income families. Save the Children say their plan could benefit 30,000 kids in affected families. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/…

Every parent wants to give their baby the best start in life possible. But, heartbreakingly, over one in three families with a baby under one are living in poverty. 📣 We’re calling for the next Scottish Government to do #BetterforBabies

Powerful piece by @_RebeccaMcCurdy as part of @heraldscotland series on child poverty. Couldn’t agree more that “This should be an issue that is resigned to the history books where future generations find it hard to believe it existed in the first place.”
Catherine Salmond@SalmondSalmond

Direct, powerful and sincere writing from the very talented @_RebeccaMcCurdy as we kick off our three-day series into child poverty. "I have very distinct memories of lying in bed almost crippled with worry over how much more my mum could handle." #comments-anchor" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">heraldscotland.com/politics/holyr…

E D I N B U R G H Good to check in (2/3 April) with @SaveChildrenSCO team on @scotgov target to get child poverty below 10% - some progress but not enough to meet the target by 2030 - and to talk to our parents advisory panel on how to push for greater ambition

New statistics show that child poverty rates in Scotland have fallen. Our actions, including delivering the Scottish Child Payment and expanding free school meals, will benefit the poorest families by an estimated £2,600 in 2025-26. gov.scot/news/child-pov…

Today’s child poverty stats for Scotland show that investing in social security makes a real difference but needs to be scaled up if we’re to eradicate child poverty and meet the 2030 targets.

We acknowledge the slight reduction in child poverty however, figures remain significantly above the interim target. @ScotGov must do more to prioritise ending child poverty to meet targets. Too many children in Scotland are still growing up in poverty. 👇 aberlour.org.uk/news-item/aber…

We also need to do more to create flexible jobs for parents, increase the supply of affordable childcare and roll out community based family services that support children to get a decent start & set them up for a better future (4/4)

Social security, esp the SCP, is supporting families. There is no running away from the fact this essential public service is needed & should go further. It’s the backbone to a comprehensive plan to end child poverty (3/4)
