“Muslims have their own particular history, and they also have a history shared with others in this country of ours. But what is most evident is what we all have in common.
The persecution of Muslims, and the denial of peace to them, happened in one particular way. But at the same time, many others were persecuted as well, and in ways that we all relate to.
That is why the change that took place in our country, change in governance and politics, was something our country should have had, but was denied for many, many years. What we have now is a path of transformation: transforming lives, transforming governance, transforming mindsets, so that Rwanda can move forward, with every Rwandan playing a role, and with no one subjected to persecution.” President Kagame | Rwandan Muslim Community #MeetThePresident

To those showing double standards and feigning concern for Rwandan authorities simply because the President asked them for accountability : relax. There’s really nothing to worry about!
Observing leadership is not the same as bearing its responsibility. HE. Paul Kagame is not merely a symbolic figure, he is mandated by oath to ensure the well-being of the Rwandan people.
This mandate demands results, and results depend on a chain of responsibility : no head of state governs alone.
When individuals fail to fulfill their duties, it is not only legitimate but necessary that they be held accountable. Confusing this with humiliation or personal attack often reflects a biased, or at best superficial, understanding of leadership.
A leader is not a babysitter tasked with managing sensitivities. A leader sets direction, enforces standards, and addresses failures when those standards are not met.
This is precisely how teams are strengthened, refined, and prepared to succeed.
It is this very culture of discipline and accountability that has enabled Rwanda to rise, to rebuild, and to achieve what many once thought impossible.
Moreover, these exchanges could have easily remained behind closed doors. Their public nature sends a clear message : leadership that assumes responsibility, confronts shortcomings, and refuses complacency.
In many contexts, the absence of accountability breeds mediocrity and impunity. Being called to account is not humiliation, it is a standard.
What we witnessed yesterday was not a misstep, but a demonstration of rigor, a true masterclass in leadership for those able to look beyond mere emotion.
Fortunately, Rwanda’s governance needs no one’s approval to keep moving forward on the path it knows is best.

@NormanIshimwe @rpfinkotanyi While you distort, I call it Accountability.
As Rwandan public servants, our focus must be to deliver for citizens all day, every day.
It’s an honor to work for a President who embodies service, integrity, ambition & a heart for Rwandans.

.@CandyBaso is a Belgian-Rwandan, part of a generation of young Rwandans who genuinely believed — and perhaps still believe — in the @rpfinkotanyi.
They returned to #Rwanda with hope: to build their future and contribute to the development of their country.
Instead, many found themselves trapped in a system that is corrupt, mafia-like, and driven by deep divisions — ethnic, regional, social, family-based,...
Some have become part of that system, willingly or not. Others, however, are crushed by it.
Many of those we speak with still belong to the first category. They often struggle to understand what we are saying — until the day they themselves are pushed into the second category.
Today, she belongs to that second category.
Anyone who still believes that this system truly serves the interests of the Rwandan people should take the time to watch this video.
Publicly humiliating the leaders of a country in order to deflect responsibility is not leadership — it is disgraceful. No leader should behave this way.
No one deserves to be humiliated like that.
Alfred Antoine UZABAKILIHO@AAwithJGS
That kind of shame before a crowd, eyes lowered, not because u are wrong, but because you are broken by someone u once believed in. Being unjustly brutalized by a dictator you supported for so long doesn’t just wound the body, it shatters trust, dignity, and identity all at once.

“The country’s interest is your interest too.
You cannot work only for your own personal interests and expect the country to benefit, especially if you are using the country’s resources only for your own benefit. This must come to an end.
Leaders, if you do not follow up on the work, if you do not follow up on the people under your responsibility so that they can tell you what they think and you can guide them, so that what is possible is done, and what is not possible is solved through other means, then whatever level you serve at, what are you really doing?
You must have a way of working that serves citizens.
Simply being called a leader, being referred to as “mayor,” and that is where it ends, that must stop.” President Kagame | Central and Local Government Meeting
