Kapag direktang bumibili ang gobyerno mula sa mga kooperatiba ng magsasaka at mangingisda, mas mura ang presyo ng pagkain dahil wala nang middleman. Mas malaki rin ang kita ng ating mga food producers, kaya mas naeengganyo silang magtanim at mangisda nang tuloy-tuloy. Tulad ng nangyari sa Quezon City, direktang nakabili ang lokal na pamahalaan ng bigas mula sa mga kooperatiba ng magsasaka. Dahil dito, mas maraming pamilyang nangangailangan ang nabigyan ng murang bigas habang mas malaki rin ang kinita ng ating mga magsasaka. Ito ang diwa ng Sagip Saka: kapag ang magsasaka at mangingisda ay umaangat, mas nagiging sapat at abot-kaya ang pagkain para sa lahat. Maraming salamat sa Quezon City LGU sa pamumuno ni Mayor Joy Belmonte, sa Department of Agriculture, sa World Food Programme, at sa lahat ng mga kooperatiba, lokal na pamahalaan, at organisasyong patuloy na nakikipagtulungan para sa mas matatag na food system para sa bayan. Kita ay angat. Pagkain ay sapat. 🇵🇭

Ipinapakita nito na kapag diretsong nakakabenta ang maliliit na mangingisda at kooperatiba sa pamahalaan, mas lumalaki ang kita at mas gumagaan ang buhay. Tumatak sa atin ang kwento ni Marichu na nagsabing, “Yung anak ko noon high school pa lang, ngayon teacher na.” Iyan ang tunay na layunin ng Sagip Saka, hindi lang dagdag kita, kundi dagdag oportunidad para sa buong pamilya. Patuloy nating ipaglalaban ang mas maayos na kabuhayan at mas patas na oportunidad para sa ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda. 🌾
