Read my new piece with @thedispatch! I argue that degrees of loyalty and voice within an alliance is the best way to understand the strength and cohesion of that alliance. If loyalty breaks, and an ally feels like they have no voice with their partner, the ally may exit.

Farewell, Nikkei! Starting from the headline desk in Osaka, I was blessed to report across Japan, the U.S., China and the Middle East. Starting April, I’ll continue that journey at the Hudson Institute as Senior Fellow for Greater Asia — the strategic arc from Japan to Turkey along the ancient Silk Road. Thank you all.

“I think Reagan is fundamentally an overrated conservative figure, an overrated president, and potentially in many ways damaging one.” A faction on the right claim the conservative label while remaining deeply hostile to the conservative movement itself. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/int…

🚨 @ReaganInstitute Director @RogerZakheim praises Trump's historic Iran decision: "This is strategic in every aspect. This regime has, for 47 years, attacked our interests. The U.S. is safer now." With Operation Epic Fury, @POTUS is carrying Reagan’s foreign policy legacy.

Implementation will always be important and determinative but it is undeniable that “the survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands.” (George W Bush)
John Hudson@John_Hudson

In a brief phone call with The @washingtonpost just after 4 a.m. President Trump said his main concern is “freedom” for the Iranian people, and that the U.S. is working to make Iran a place that’s “safe.” “All I want is freedom for the people" Trump told @natalie_allison

Just coauthored a piece with @Connor_Fiddler about a problem that's been on my mind for years: maps! Specifically, the conflicting organizational maps that DoD, State, the military, and the White House have drawn to manage U.S. alliances and partnerships in the Indo-Pacific. 🌏
World Politics Review@WPReview

Despite the importance of the Indo-Pacific as a strategic framework, Washington’s bureaucracy still struggles to organize itself accordingly, with multiple, dissonant approaches to the region across government agencies, @Chris_Estep & @Connor_Fiddler write. worldpoliticsreview.com/us-bureaucracy…

Excited to share that I’ll be spending this spring working as a graduate research fellow with @PolarisNatSec. I’m grateful to work with an exceptional team advancing a conservative foreign policy grounded in American strength.
