@johnkonrad @dongulling I have friends who vacation overseas. They ask why we don't do the same. My response, "There's so much of America we haven't seen yet, I have no interest in going overseas." They look at me like I have two heads. I guess I'm weird.

@dongulling I know. I get it. I bought a yacht after almost declaring bankruptcy. I’m just trying to figure out why every millennial I know all decided overseas travel would be THE stupid thing to spend money on.

At my local liberal elite coffee shop a millennial woman is in tears because she can’t afford private school tuition. She’s on speakerphone so everyone hears. She qualifies for food stamps. She is an immigrant and a lesbian. Everyone is waiting for her to get off the phone to console her. OK. BUT… she just spent $3,000 on airline tickets for a vacation and booked $400 meal one of the nights. And summer camp for her kids while she goes. Every millennial I know is absolutely addicted to travel to foreign nations. WTF. They talk about it like it’s a human right. Why the F can’t she put her kids into her Subaru and drive them to Florida like a normal person? Or the thousands of great coastal vacation spots between Bar Harbor Maine and Key West. Why is nobody suggesting this to her? And it’s not just her. My millennial friends who have money are constantly jumping on planes overseas. Like if they go more than two months without travel they start freaking out. I’m generation x. I don’t get it. Someone please explain this to me in crayons. I mean I love traveling too but holy crap does it get expensive fast. Are these people all just in crazy debt?

Dirty little secret: If they had put people's money in a "lock box" (as was intended) and invested it in the individual's name, it would run much smoother and folks would have much money money upon retirement. I get that in the beginning, govt wanted to protect people who never worked from abject poverty. Today, there are so many entitlement programs, the system needs to be killed and re-built. It's a slush fund and rife with corruption and fraud.

Yep. This latest scam of "redistricting" is amazing. I hope the GOP is energized enough to vote against it. If I have it right, there's an entire MONTH to vote on the Dem effort to steal four seats. Plenty of time for Dems to count the votes, have additional ballots from dead people or illegals in their back pockets, then pull their usual trick of "finding" votes at the last minute.

anyone calculating Virginia's political environment based on 2025 numbers is making a mistake Winsome Sears probably cost the GOP at least 20% of its voters - if not more. It's one thing not to inspire, but she went out of her way to offend her own base.

@Bubblebathgirl It used to be called "The Red Eye." I used it all the time coming back from the West Coast (I live in the DC area). Haven't a clue if Red Eye flights are still almost empty; I haven't flown in years (on purpose).

“United Relax Row” announced by United Airlines that lets passengers combine three seats into one usable area. Of course, there’s an added cost on top of the price for all three seats. That charge hasn’t been announced yet. But you’ll get some added amenities with it. What do you think? Worth it? (united on TT)

@JohnStrandUSA It's not just that our money is siphoned away for their pet projects, it's that govt, including Congress, squanders it on fraud, waste and abuse. No oversight and not even caring, because they can just raise our taxes or put us deeper in debt. Nothing ever gets fixed.

I think most Americans are exhausted by politics. They’re furious that politicians play games with their lives and siphon away their hard-earned money for lunatic ideologies. Meanwhile, it’s harder than ever to make a decent life for your family. Anyone else feeling this?

Could be - GOP voters unable to grasp that anyone would be dumb enough or low-info enough to vote for Spanberger and Jones. But, Northern Virginia (including the Richmond area) is extremely leftist and not above cheating if necessary. GOP in VA needs to be constantly on their toes with eyes wide open.

Defeats what purpose? The Ponzi scheme also known as Social Security? People spend an entire adult life having their money taken and put into Social Security so that illegals can get benefits for nothing? Sounds fair to me. Or, give people the option of giving their money to a reputable financial institution to invest for them, keep an eye on it and make changes to keep their funds in accounts/annuities that won't lose money if they're unhappy, and know that it's THEIR money that no one else will take.

That's their problem. If voluntary, they have a choice - throw their money at Social Security and hope there's something there as a safety net when they retire; or, give their money to a reputable financial organization and see how much money they'll have after 20-40 years. They can always save the old-fashioned way and hope govt-created inflation doesn't take it.
