Encounter is clearly not a game for everybody, but the Steam algorithm links the visibility of a game to the number of whish lists it has received, so if you feel like wish-listing the game on your Steam account that would be very appreciated! 🙏 store.steampowered.com/app/3319780/En…

Been a while since I wrote a blog post... that one is about how I'm using AI tools to improve my workflow when working on "stuff", and how long that actually take (with actual measurements).🤖 blog.defence-force.org/index.php?page…

MultiEnding Heroes OUT NOW! 🇦🇷
What are some of the best Tower Defense games? I want to try the most original ones... and maybe do some “research”. 👀

@BecomingCaptain That would also make it possible to make a successful game without even releasing it to the public: Just test your own game and you get paid for it!

Apparently there are people who wake up before their alarm… and just get up. Just one alarm. No snooze. No struggle. Explain yourselves. How do you do that?

@exQUIZitely That's why I really wanted to get one when I was finally able to! I had to do a some repairs, the front panels were dead, the display did not work anymore, etc... but now it works nicely :)

I'm so out of touch, I don't even know if PC gamers these days still bother with sound cards... is that still a thing? What I do remember, though, is that the Roland MT-32 was the most unachievable piece of hardware ever back in the day, at least for me.

It's this time of the year again, the game will be at 33% off on both Itch and Steam until the 26th. There's been quite a few improvements since it launched in December 2024! Thanks to anyone who gave feedback that helped make the game better 🤗

After 5 years waiting, I may finally be able to get my Oric original version of Hibernated! 🥳 Looking forward to try it on my machine!

WELL WELL WELL. Apparently there's HUNDREDS of game objects that are falling infinitely in Twisted Tower. This is why you BETA TEST. My goodness... thanks to @JasozzGames for reaching out last night and letting me know this is a problem to watch out for in Unity. If this many physics objects start falling, the physics will break eventually in the game. This was a tricky one. Basically, these are rigidbodies that are triggers. So they fall, and NOTHING is ever going to stop them. Lol what a relief to find this.

@NotNordgaren @falco_girgis I also do like making tools, but I reached an age where if I continue spending time on the tools I will never finish any of the games I started! At some point I had to make a choice: now if I find a bug in the tool, or a missing feature, I ask Claude to investigate.

Damn, I should have been told that making an original Oric game was a dumb idea, there are even fewer Oric active users than there are Dreamcast ones! 😱
...@Gamer1137592756

@ProfessorCagan @falco_girgis @Spiders_STG Why make original DC games? To access the small amount of people who still actively use it. What does the DC do that a modern console doesn't? I guess there may be unique peripherals. But if you're just making a platformer or a shmup I don't see the point.

@NotNordgaren @falco_girgis A few weeks ago I was watching a video from a guy porting Sonic to the Amiga, and he used AI code assistant to update a map editor tool to add support for the Amiga format, which I think is the smart thing to do since "making a tool" is not the end objective :)

@DefenceForceOrg @falco_girgis Yea, it's definitely different since the past year or so. I remember looking into SDK-like packages for SNES about 3 years ago and it was very barren.

@NotNordgaren @falco_girgis There's a reason why I'm maintaining my own toolchain (the OSDK): I was not satisfied with what available! Now with coding assistants, it should be relatively easy to modernize (or create anew) all these old tools to make them easier to use, faster, etc...

@DefenceForceOrg @falco_girgis That's why I said "depending on what you are develop for". The tooling really depends on what you are targeting. Even within Nintendo consoles, NES SNES and Gameboy development are drastically different. Gameboy seems to have the best tooling of the Nintendo consoles.

@NotNordgaren @falco_girgis Even on the Oric I do everything with a cross compiler, test and deploy on emulator, and for real hardware tests I can just write to a SD card and run it on the Oric in just a few seconds.

@NotNordgaren @falco_girgis Nah, tooling is not the problem anymore. That's what Falco (and other) are working on, nobody needs to use the clunky tools I had to use when I worked on VRally. Now you have modern toolchains and analyzers, so it's all good, plus you have all the mods: HDMI out, SD card, ...

@NotNordgaren @falco_girgis The main issue is storage really, the GD capacity is not that large, and there's not much RAM either (by modern standards).
