✅ $20k+ revenue with one of my products. Today is a big day.
If you are a developer reading this…
👉 I will tell you the biggest barrier you will have to overcome.
Early 2023 my 1st product made $0. It was free because I didn’t think it’s technically brilliant enough that anyone would want to pay for it*.
The next 2 projects I made exactly the same mistake, but I made them bigger. Because I thought if I should charge for them, they need to be truly grandiose.
A technological feat people will drop on their knees and start sobbing when I even mention them.
Don’t think this way. Ship the silliest thing. The simplest wrapper to an API.
The simplest UI.
Here’s the reality: if you solve someone’s problem, how you build it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters if it creates value.
If it makes a task easier or faster, ship it.
But also, you think it’s fun, ship it. Because you chose this also because you want to enjoy what you do.
It took me almost a year to overcome this and I wish someone would have stopped me.
I spent months building complex products that made $0.
Don’t do that. If you are just starting, don’t spend more than 2 weeks on it before you ship the 1st version. Cut down all you great ideas and make a landing page instead where you tell us what it is. And ship it, then iterate.
You will fail and you will learn. And your next will be better and better until you find one that truly creates value.
Build an audience along the way and share your learning and most importantly:
👉 have fun while doing this
You can’t lie to yourself in this process. This will be the hardest thing you’ve ever done.
If you don’t know where to start design-wise or martketing-wise, use a boilerplate that helps with copy or a UI lib that has that:
- PageUI (free, open source) pageui.dev
- ShipFast shipfa.st
- Shipixen shipixen.com
- Supastarter supastarter.dev
Don’t neglect marketing. Spend an equal amount of time on it and find the part of marketing that is fun to you.
Maybe it’s tracking/business analytics, maybe it’s building free tools, maybe it’s SEO.
And do not quit.

@DeveloperFrater Probably less. Many just tried the package (like me) in a real project to see if it was really useful.
