I feel like the oil market has already crossed the point of no return, regardless of how this war plays out. At first this wave just swallowed up everything East of Suez. We saw force majeures popping up all over Asia and premiums going through the roof. But now the Atlantic wall has officially crumbled. Only oil nerds like us are checking this stuff lately, but seriously—just look at the North Sea Platts window and the USGC diffs. This is nowhere near normal. I know some ppl are getting all hyped up every time a single Handy tanker or LPG carrier squeaks through Hormuz, even claiming there’s a secret fleet of tankers slipping through. I highly doubt it. If supply was actually fine, Atlantic physical diffs wouldn't be screaming like this. These numbers only happen when you're hitting a massive supply shock. Like some of smart guys have noted, once you pass a certain threshold, it doesn't even matter if Hormuz reopens—the logistical bottlenecks will make it impossible to absorb the shock anytime soon. I’m pretty sure we’ve already crossed that line. #oott #iran

Looking at a bunch of frog spawn in a pond at the botanical gardens today and musing at the sheer number, I said "well, I imagine the rate of attrition must be quite high". At that precise moment a giant fish came over and snatched about 20% of the spawn in one gloopy mouthful

The only way I can make sense of the ‘millennials look young’ thing, over and above wishful thinking that’s so obvious it’s barely worth pointing out, is that this cohort DOES smoke significantly less than its elders, and uses sun screen.

I really don't think millennials look especially young. We're just at that age when we're old enough to have "aged well" but too young to accept not looking 20. So everyone is like "here's my selfie! I'm 39 but look 19 because I drink water."

@bugsandfishes I recently had to fly back to the UK for 24 hours, my flight was delayed and I had to rush to my destination when I got there. The sheer relief upon seeing an M&S food and knowing I could grab a quick sandwich, drink and snack!

People chat a lot about "British values" that are actually loosely defined ideas believed in by the people of many many nations, but "TESCO MEAL DEALS FOR ALL, IF THEY WANT THEM" is a truly distinctly British value, imo, and I am being both sincere and approving here.

tbh I think the bigger cultural problem atm is the many women in pseudomarriages with men who will do literally everything *but* buy the cow If a guy has been talking about getting engaged for like 4 years it's probably not going to happen and you probably know that it's not going to happen, but it's unclear at precisely what point you should have known

@BertDalziel Been with my partner for 15 years. Very occasionally we will say "probably should get married at some point" but never get around to it. And we're classed as "fiscal partners" in NL anyway sooo

I asked Mr Bertha (or rather, suggested we probably should get married at some point) genuinely sort of forgot I had said that, decided to move to China for a bit then he proposed + I moved to China for a bit. Then we got married. I am true chaotic neutral, accept no substitute.
