Just had to share this wild Tesla timing story because it still blows my mind.
Last month, my 2019 Model X Performance (with FSD) was in a bad accident. I was pretty bummed — not just about the car, but unsure what would happen with my Full Self-Driving transfer.
Assuming it was a total loss, I jumped on an inventory refreshed 2026 Model 3 Premium Long Range RWD so I could get back on the road fast.
The day I showed up to pick it up? Pure magic. I transferred my FSD seamlessly, and right around the same time everything lined up with insurance — full payout on the old car, no drama.
On top of all that, my old insurance company was about to slam me with a huge premium increase after the accident. Instead, I switched to Tesla Insurance on the new Model 3. The process was ridiculously easy, it actually saved me money every month, and I completely avoided the rate hike. They use your real driving data and Safety Score (FSD helps a ton there), so it felt like they actually rewarded safe driving instead of punishing the claim. Win-win!
Now I can’t even explain how insanely well FSD performs on this 2026 Model 3. I’m literally eating meals while it drives me around with zero issues — hands-free, stress-free, and smooth as silk. Night-and-day upgrade from my old 2019 Model X.
Couldn’t have scripted better timing. @Tesla really came through on every level.
