Much will depend on what Anthony Taylor told the VAR he saw. If the referee described it as we saw and chose a yellow, there's not much the VAR can do. But that's a red for me. Another case where the outcome is probably different had the opponent "played up" to it. #MCIARS

@Sargesbackheel @DaleJohnsonBBC Because you said it was correctly not given because Haaland didn’t make a fuss which was the worst argument I’d ever heard. So I said as it’s cleary a red card and the only way a ref does his job properly is when players play act the we should be cool with it.

The old excuse of ‘it’s a big game’ and not wanting to spoil it will be peddled I’m sure. Ultimately yet again a poor decision

The red card of course isn't just about this game. Gabriel would be suspended for three of Arsenal's remaining five games. John Brooks, who is the VAR for pretty much every major game now, said "not excessively aggressive or violent".

If we’d have had the level of fight and desire we had today all season, we would be nowhere near the mess we are in. Silly mistakes costing us and it will send us down but where was this fight weeks and months ago?

@FirstTake @stephenasmith @WindhorstESPN I’m a big fan of Rory but yes this is an unfair advantage- in the Open, or any other major, we don’t see players get to play the course in the weeks preceding , they all practice for the Open at other links courses like Royal County Down in NI. Rory has maximised last years win
