And when the Next Gen came out; there was tons of hate because it “wasn’t Star Trek” and the cast probably was in fear from the fans. Again when the series with Bakula came out, it too was panned by the fans because it “wasn’t Star Trek.” Star Trek is different for everyone. 🤷🏼

During the first airing of my Star Trek series where a kiss was objectionable; many southern stations pulled the episode & condemned the show. Using today’s vernacular it would absolutely be called“woke DEI crap”because it went against “norms” of society for its time. Not a lot seems to have changed.🤷🏼😑

Star Trek exists in more than one world. It exists in the fantasy of science fiction - weird and wonderful things that play unimaginable possibilities of exploration and human endeavor. But it also exists in the fantasy of human beings, the perfection of human beings, the exploration that human beings have made since the dawn of time and the continuing exploration - physically mentally and morally. It’s that aspect of Star Trek that I’ve always loved, to look at something physically that doesn’t exist now by these talented writers & designers but also to tackle the eternal human questions the agonies, the ecstasies. Star Trek should exist for a long time to come based on those truths. I for one would love to see its continuity. It’s with sorrow that I hear about the cancellation of the new Star Trek series.

I need every Democrat currently supporting Graham Platner to understand that excusing his racism and misogyny because he "says is like it is" is the exact same excuse MAGA gave for supporting trump.

In the dramatic circumstances of war, information must guard against the risk of turning into propaganda. It is every journalist's duty to verify the news, so as not to become a megaphone for power. They must show the suffering that war always brings to populations, which entails showing the face of war and recounting it through the eyes of victims.

It’s crystal clear now that Trump has lost control of this war. He badly misjudged Iran’s ability to retaliate. The region is on fire. 1/ I’m going to explain to you in this🧵what I’ve learned - in part from closed door briefings - about the four biggest current crises.

9/ All of this was totally foreseeable. Frankly, it’s why previous presidents weren’t so stupid to start a war like this. Trump has lost control of the war. His best course now is to cut his losses and end it. That’s the only way to prevent an even bigger disaster.

8/ CRISIS FOUR: Trump has no endgame. Iran and its proxies can create chaos indefinitely. So what’s next? A ground invasion? This would be Armageddon. Thousands of dead Americans. Declare false victory? Then the new Iranian hardliners in charge just rebuild what we destroyed.

This is the escalation that should really worry Americans. They’re feeling tremendous pressure to reopen Hormuz without a ceasefire agreement. Hegseth wants boots on the ground, Rubio is opposed (Cuba is definitely safe if that happens). Colby must be livid. Even Vance is likely opposed. But they can see no other way to reopen Hormuz. This is @ProfessorPape’s escalation trap. If we send in ground forces, no upper bound can be put on the duration of the commitment. Could be a decade or more. Something of the order of a million troops will be required. Casualties will be horrendous. Iran is not Iraq, or even Vietnam. This is going to be extremely painful and it will destroy the American world position. At the minimum, there can be no deterrence in Asia whatsoever if this commitment is made.
Policy Tensor@policytensor

You can land boots and reopen Hormuz. I’ll be costly. But at least it can be done. But what is the exit? How do you leave? The only exit is if you topple the regime and replace it with a puppet. But that too may demand a decade long counterinsurgency war that we would likely lose

FACT CHECK: Democrats introduced a clean bill to fully fund TSA with no conditions.
Republicans blocked it.

Democrats are ready to pay TSA agents TODAY. Republicans would rather lie on twitter and ruin our travel.
Homeland Security@DHSgov

Thanks to the Democrats' reckless shutdown, security lines at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport are stretching OUT THE DOOR. The Democrats' political games are making spring break travel a NIGHTMARE as they continue to withhold funding from DHS and refuse to pay our @TSA officers.

Iran likely has more sleeper terror cells in the US than any adversary. Good thing we have *checks notes* …. Direction of National Security Tulsi Gabbard and DHS Secretary Noem… …fuck.
Juliette Kayyem@juliettekayyem

Iran has the capacity to launch terror and cyber attacks against allies and US. Due to DOGE, partisan firings of FBI and cyber officials, and lack of focus or know how by AG Bondi and DHS Noem, they are ignoring this possibility completely.

The big difference between Dems & Repubs on the Epstein files has always been this: Every Democrat has said “open it ALL, put it ALL out there, EVERY big name, Bill Clinton & any other Democrat, doesn’t matter, EVERYONE should be held accountable.” But damn near every Republican has been doing whatever they can to keep Trump’s name hidden, to make sure Trump is never held accountable.
