I grew up about a 20 min drive from Red Rocks. I have seen about 40 front-row/2nd-row concerts there! Back in the day, we locals used to do practice runs on the stairs to optimize our capability to run to first row. (It was free when there wasn't a concert going on.) The stairs start out as wider concrete platforms, so you have to run/leap to the edge of each platform until you got down to the front, wherein it became little, little, little so you modify from wide leaps to small jumps at the end. (The mistake the non-locals made was run but take a run-step in the middle of each wider platform at the top. We beat 'em because you have to leap to the edge of the next platform stair--no step in the middle of it. Beat you by 10 seconds!!!) First two rows were always locals because, back then, you partied in the parking lot for about 4 hours before the concert, and the minute it was door-opening time, we ran to the door and lined up before everyone else even knew what was happening . It was no ticketed seats--just open admission, so we knew how to beat the non-locals every single damned time! I'm sure the premium rows are ticketed by now, but back then it was free-for-all and who can navigate the quickest! @ClimateWarrior7 I can trace my roots all the way back to the Mayflower and the Revolutionary War, but I cannot call myself English. I think all the violence my English ancestors chose against England counted as official renunciation.

Eventually I'll probably apply for citizenship in Italy. In 5 years I'll be eligible. Then I'll have an Italian passport but I'll never be truly Italian. I will, in reality, be an English person who lives in Italy as a guest of the Italians. Of course there are very many Italians in England — London has around 375,000 Italians—so the deal is reciprocal. I eat a lot of pasta and pizza, I speak Italian with Italians nearly every day, I pay Italian taxes, and I respect and admire Italian culture. But the fact remains that I'm English. However, it's easy for me to say this because I have the unearned privilege of English ethnicity. Whereas, if someone from an inferior backward culture goes to live in England, they become English immediately. To say anything else would be deeply insulting. Actually if a person who lives in a third-world shithole so much as thinks about England, they are practically already English.

I think it is going by IP address, so even US citizens abroad will get blocked from interacting with US accounts. Maybe the point is just a backdoor way to start making us use govt ID to use the site? Seems dumb to limit me because of my IP address, especially when I'm still a US citizen and can vote absentee.

Tell me what I’m missing here. There is a new feature where accounts can now block people from entire regions from replying. I would think this would be frustrating as a user who wants to participate in this site. They will try to reply to something, be blocked, then leave. How does this help this site? Everyone will be angry and block each other’s countries back and suddenly no one can talk around here. I don’t get it. Why is it good for a social media site to be inhospitable? This is very much what the blue place is like where everyone has such gigantic block lists soon you can’t reply to anyone so people leave.

For accounts restricting only to US region, you are leaving out US citizens living abroad, Europeans, UK, and Australia. I'm a US citizen and currently in Europe, so if I am restricted from replying because I am out of region, I'll probably just unfollow.
