I grew up about a 20 min drive from Red Rocks. I have seen about 40 front-row/2nd-row concerts there! Back in the day, we locals used to do practice runs on the stairs to optimize our capability to run to first row. (It was free when there wasn't a concert going on.) The stairs start out as wider concrete platforms, so you have to run/leap to the edge of each platform until you got down to the front, wherein it became little, little, little so you modify from wide leaps to small jumps at the end. (The mistake the non-locals made was run but take a run-step in the middle of each wider platform at the top. We beat 'em because you have to leap to the edge of the next platform stair--no step in the middle of it. Beat you by 10 seconds!!!) First two rows were always locals because, back then, you partied in the parking lot for about 4 hours before the concert, and the minute it was door-opening time, we ran to the door and lined up before everyone else even knew what was happening . It was no ticketed seats--just open admission, so we knew how to beat the non-locals every single damned time! I'm sure the premium rows are ticketed by now, but back then it was free-for-all and who can navigate the quickest! I did not see this Parcels concert, but it shows how beautiful that concert amphitheater is! I'm a lucky duck to have grown up so near it. youtube.com/watch?v=H1JP75…

@lagomorph_Bruce and @Opiumbrella and @kawazoe316 OMG! The last time I had to duck into the UK, I was in Burgas, Bulgaria and getting attacked by men. At one point, a man told me he would call the police for stealing from him. I didn't steal from him and he was pursuing me at the hotel. He called the police on me. (Both of us could speak in German.) Intimidating me, so then I turned up the volume and accused him of sexually assaulting me (which he did--but I fought it off.) The undercover Bulgarian police showed me badges and made me and him sit in the Bulgarian police station for 4 hours. Dude accusing me forgot that the entire shop was bugged with cameras. He kept harassing me and trying to speak in German to me. I kept shutting it down. After around 4 hours, I looked at him and said, "You know they've been watching us this whole time? There are cameras all over this place." The police came out and handed my passport back to me and said I was good to go. I told them I was flying out to Manchester the next day. They told me the guy harassing me was from Azerbaijan and in country illegally. He was getting deported.

Wow! Chines and Finnish are an amazing pair to have. English and Finnish is still good because Finland is a place we overlook. However, any dialect of English is fried in Spanish, German, French Portuguese, Italian.... Learn some Chinese, and you can make a living! Russian and Japanese are still on the table, I think. Finnish<>Chinese is a serious language pair. Learn how to interpret from your mom! That's amazing! You are a very interesting person!

@HighwitHouse @lagomorph_Bruce @Opiumbrella Ah yes, I chose the wrong term for her line of work 😅 She interested in Tibet and Mongolian also. Yes, she speaks English and a bit of Russian too. She reads math books for fun! I've started learning Chinese and it's easier since I've heard it ever since I was a child 😅.

Well, I can't get Chinese food here in Albania. They have a taste for traditional Albanian, Greek, Italian and Turkish. That's it. I like spicy food! Anything Asian flavor here comes at a premium cost at stores if you know where to look! (You have to know how to find it!) Some Japanese places are coming in, but it is out of this world expensive. Yeah! Your food looks good! Made me hungry!

Chinese to Finnish? That is a very rare language pair. Any Western European language paired with any dialect of English is destroyed! I think Chinese is safe right now--especially with Finnish. SO your mom is not just a translator. She is also an interpreter. Interpreting is a completely different skill from translating. I'm a translator and not an interpreter. Your mom sounds amazing! And she is doing medical too? Yah, Mom is smart! You both speak English too?

@HighwitHouse @lagomorph_Bruce @Opiumbrella So my mom translates for Chinese people when they're going to the doctor, social services etc. She has translated a Chinese book to Finnish called Herkkusuu - The Gourmet.

@kawazoe316 @lagomorph_Bruce @Opiumbrella Looks tasty to me! I haven't had any Finnish food along my travels, but I'd probably eat some of that! Finland wasn't really on my radar. Now I think I should go see Finland someday!

@HighwitHouse @lagomorph_Bruce @Opiumbrella Chinese is probably a bit more tricky for AI, at least I hope so. There was something in the Finnish news about AI usage instead of translators. It sucks. Here's some: Karjalanpaisti - Karelian hot pot Karjalanpiirakka - Karelian Pastry Leipäjuusto - Sort of an soft cheese

Describe this @carrotcottagerr item in one word - ideally something positive! Who would like to see colourful Watson Water Bottles listed at jjrabbithouse.com ? We do try to sell practical items as well as “garbage” or “tat” items - the last two words have been used to refer to our products recently … we do this for the buns … be kind!

It's so sad that our good guys are so good and get glommed in, but bad guys are outnumbering the good ones at this point. The latest from Australia and UK truly shows how much men hate us. They'd slaughter us if it weren't for the one thing they want....and sometimes, they will just take it and kill too.

You have an opossum now? Guess what is gross about me? I was living in Milwaukee after I left grad school. I needed a repair in my apartment bathroom, so landlord came over. I had eaten some chicken and my stomach roiled--so I puked it in front of my porch. Couldn't barf in my bathroom at the time. An opossum came out from under my porch and ate my chicken puke. He hissed at me sometimes, but I think he was hoping I'd puke outside the house again.

Dr Sophie got dad with some bad news yesterday, she thinks my ears are more Flemish than continental, and the fact I’m already as big as most continental giants, yet still have a year of growing to do means she might be right!! 7kg coming soon 💪🏻

@carrotcottagerr Continental?? What does that mean? I think it means he's probably an American lagomorph. We got big ears and long legs so we can outfox a coyote in the desert. Does Dwayne like burrows? We don't do burrows. We dig a little dip in the sand under a tree.

Bruiser took three steps in. Grabbed a Temptations treat (ok, so I’m not above bribery) then turned around and ran back outside to eat it. I wish I knew what was in his head. Later we sat together in the Green Place of Petting outside and he just flopped against me and purred.

Oh! I worked for about 18 years as a translator. Western European languages paired with English got destroyed by AI. Chinese is still viable. So, your mom translates from Chinese? Finnish and Russian? That makes sense. Finland is pretty close to Russia. You are interesting. I don't know anyone else from Finland. Tell me the best Finnish food. I seriously don't think I've had any Finnish food along my travels.

@HighwitHouse @lagomorph_Bruce @Opiumbrella Ah no, I made you misunderstand me 😅 I'm Finnish with some Russian heritage from my mother's side. I can't speak Russian though. My mom has just studied languages and works as a Chinese translator. It's pretty funny people can't figure out you're an American 😂

You're a lovebug! I have seen you around here, but now we're interacting. So, you are Finnish and Chinese? I'm American, but my blend of American is heritage English--the kind who got really mean and was doing stabby and shooty at the English in the 13 colonies. Then came the Germans. My English folks were getting giggity with Germans. So, I look like a German. If I go to Germany and buy German clothes, I can slip right in and nobody even thinks I'm foreign. They can hear my accent though and peg me for a native English speaker. However, they can't tell which kind of English I speak and assume England. I make them go through a round of guessing which kind of English I can speak. They go through every single English country except USA and give up. I ask them (in German): What is another big country that speaks English? "You're American?" Yep! I did get good enough at it that people started mistaking me for being Dutch. I can't quite lose the hard nasal errr sound that we do in American English. Dutch has the same nasal errr, so if you practice enough, you can sound like your native language is Dutch.

I became the "American" in the 'hood. Tony and I sat in the back garden laughing our asses off and drinking ciders and beers. His son, Jack, had his own apartment attached to the house. I once saw him and asked him a question, and he said, "No! I have nothing to do with this." Tony told me, "Jack does not like new people." LOL. By the time I was leaving, Jack was hanging out with me, I got from-scratch English Sunday dinner, and the 'hood was saying "We haven't seen Tony this happy since Josie died!"

I can fly ANYWHERE from the UK! My plan was to stay for 2 days in Manchester with a Manchester couple and then go to Portugal. Tony greeted me when I arrived. I asked, "Where is your wife?" (She was in the profile pic.) "She died." Everyone has lost Josie 6 months ago. She "suddenly died." I had to keep my mouth a bit shut about what happened to her because they are triple jabbed, and I won't take a jab. She stopped breathing all of a sudden. She was fine and then on a Friday, she had a hard time breathing. By Sunday, she died. I wound up in Manchester for 2.5 weeks instead of 2 days. I re-routed to Spain because my host and his friends were going to Spain. We had a wild time in Spain--and that's where I got a pink fizz from the Welsh a week before my Manchester folks showed up.
