Sometimes I can be really weirdly over talkative and I promise it's just because I'm trying to be friends but I don't know how to do it right

@lepiofthevalley @HopelessManmode I’m calling it. Lepi actually looks like Hunter Schafer and this was all one big larp. Also it seems like you’ve been having a bad week. I’m sorry girl.

@wylrazrbld Maybe TMI but it's also got me wondering if I'd have transitioned had I not been forced to engage in my father's concept of masculinity, which included forcing me to engage in violence and sexually humiliating me (probs TMI but I'm insane)

@wylrazrbld I keep thinking about this post, and I guess I'm wondering - does that mean you're not trans/dysphoric? And if not, I wonder just how many people with similar experiences would also benefit from HRT and transition

@Altermerea @Tbpoonest @strid1990723 So I guess my question is if you believe those people experiencing what you believe to be arousal/romanticism regarding becoming the opposite sex can legitimately be trans? I guess I feel like I hear this perspective usually as a justification for why they're not.

@Altermerea @Tbpoonest @strid1990723 I guess I'm saying it just depends on what you define as gender "euphoria". I obviously do have gender dysphoria (or at least something that mimics it), but I think your original claim was that someone who is transsexual can experience gender euphoria

@Altermerea @Tbpoonest @strid1990723 Even some detransitioners, people who found they didn't have dysphoria, still benefitted greatly from HRT, saying they would have ended their lives without it, and I think those people are valuable.

@Altermerea @Tbpoonest @strid1990723 I also think there might be a cohort of people who are nonbinary, intersex, and/or traumatized who may not fully want to be a woman/have traits of the opposite sex but would still benefit greatly from HRT, so I don't like gatekeeping by this metric.

@Toshimoko29 @sillymippy The lore and worldbuilding is still there, yes, but has become an increasingly small part of the franchise. I mean, it used to be that every set introduced new magic stories and worldbuilding, so just having nothing for like 3 sets is an unusual drought.

@Altermerea @Tbpoonest @strid1990723 If gender dysphoria can be defined as a sense of unease and dissatisfaction, its antonym - euphoria, can be defined as a sense of ease and comfort. How we perceive dysphoria is just highly subjective and variable. I didn't think I had it for a long time because it was all I knew.

@HopelessManmode @Tbpoonest @strid1990723 You know, certain drugs can induce states of euphoria, e.g. MDMA. I don't get why the name is so unintentionally deceptive. In psychiatry, the term "dysphoria" is commonly used in contexts unrelated to gender identity and it always refers to the same states of dissatisfaction.

@L1ly0fth3v4l3y There's always gotta be a first one right? Though I'm sure there are plenty of trans nurses around, I've actually met a few at hospitals where I was treated. Don't give up on your wants because you're scared, if you did you probably wouldn't have transitioned in the first place.

i really want to be a nurse and i’m working towards that but also kinda worried that being a trans woman makes that impossible. people don’t want a tranny in nursing

I'm constantly paranoid that one day I'm going to just realize I'm not actually trans, and detransition. How the fuck do I fix/prevent this or at least stop thinking about it as much 😭

@Altermerea @Tbpoonest @strid1990723 I don't think gender euphoria is using that psychiatric definition, and is just the linguistic counterpart to "dysphoria", and so it really just means finding satisfaction and comfort in your newfound sexed traits or characteristics.

@HopelessManmode @Tbpoonest @strid1990723 You mean some gendered mood that fluctuates between feeling dysphoria and feeling euphoria? In a psychiatric sense you can almost consider euphoria in some sense to be associated with mania. A state of ecstasy, overwhelming pleasurable emotion, exhilaration, almost trance-like.
