The main thing that put me off Teslas is the problem getting time at a Tesla mechanic. Now, perhaps this is no longer an issue, but I haven’t bought a car since 2019, so who knows.

An Audi e-tron is asking for an oil change and inspection. I tweeted a similar picture years ago but this is today in 2023. The e-tron has been in production since 2018 and the problem is 6 years later not fixed. Should I mention that the e-tron in the picture cost more than 100,000 Euros?! @AudiOfficial

@bjartnes Yup, so DynDNS as Harald said :) we have it setup on the router to forward current IP. I think it’s via ‘No-ip’ and it’s free.

@bjartnes Yeah, we are with what was once Canal Digital on their cable network. We have a public IP, which makes this fairly simple to do.

@einarwh Yeah - the biggest problem when talking with others is saying ‘we have an API for that’, and wanting a concise way to describe what is effectively a non REST API. Naming, terminology and erosion of common language sucks.

@einarwh ‘REST-like’… Covers all permutations, omissions and other mistakes nicely. :)

@RobertOsfield @robsmallshire Never had a problem just showing up to a charger and reading the instructions on how to use it. Sometimes you need an app (‘mer’ for example). Sometimes you can use a website. Very very rarely a contactless reader is available…

Tomorrow I'm heading to Bergen in Norway for a short holiday. I've booked a Skoda Electric so will need to use Norway's plugin charging. However, it looks like there are many charging networks and sounds like each will need it's own app. Any advice? @robsmallshire?

@rorysutherland But still too many compromises - friend has Q4 - we went Bristol 1 London and back - charged at Reading services for 35 minutes - someone unplugged us due to poor UI so had to spend another 30+ minutes - then range said 140 dropped to 110 in 2 minutes and drove no air con 1/2

Again the assumption is we need more range. In the UK we don't. We need smaller, lighter, cheaper batteries that charge a bit faster, and a different driver mentality. In ICE cars, refuelling is treated as a distress purchase, in an EV it should be opportunistic. economist.com/science-and-te…

@BreakIntoProg Check your home insurance. Building insurance specifically sometimes has clauses that the roof is to be cleaned yearly in order to be considered maintained. This is from personal experience.
