Mill Reef, second top-rated 2-year-old in 1970, entered the winter months with high classic aspirations. Reappearing in the Greenham Stakes (picture), he came home unextended by 4 lengths. Although well beaten by Brigadier Gerard in the Guineas, Mill Reef never lost again.

Kris extended his unbeaten run to five in the 1979 Greenham Stakes and went on to dominate the mile division in a way not seen since Brigadier Gerard. Kris was handled superbly by his master trainer and the most sporting of owner-breeders, winning 14 of his 16 career starts.

Haafhd was the last to complete the Craven Stakes/2000 Guineas double. Showing improvement on his 2003 juvenile form, Haafhd impressed greatly with a 5 length defeat of Three Valleys in the 'Craven', then ran out a comfortable winner of the colts classic from Snow Ridge.
