Excited for the 2026 AI in Healthcare Series @bcmhouston. @AdamRodmanMD kicks us off on with a thought provoking talk on the 'Die is Cast' the dilemma of Clinical Reasoning with AI. It has been a blast working with Chirayu Shah, Ruchi Gaba, Karla Sepulveda and Farzad Soleimani.

Prof Jennifer Cleland presented an inspiring talk on Positioning MedEd Research for dissemination in International Journals. I was inspired by her indian attire as much as her expertise in the field of MedEd.

Really enjoyed a full circle moment staying at the hallowed grounds of Big Bangalow where Ida Scudder once lived! The International Medical Education Conference @OffCMCVellore was a fantastic meeting for collaborative efforts to democratize instruction using GenAI. #AIinMedEd.

Published last week: Physicians don't delegate decisions to AI but they filter it. Chatbots expand hypotheses but trust to chatbots depends on the clinician's own knowledge.

Incredibly proud of my colleagues @PeterBrodeurMD @LiamGMcCoy and @drethangoh for all the amazing work they put into the inaugural State of AI Report. I'll try to get my thoughts into some sort of thread -- though it's VERY hard to keep up these days! arise-ai.org/report

Be a little cautious before using #AI detectors, especially if you're going to use the results to accuse somebody. (BTW: everybody, feel free to use this image any time you're accused of using AI, based on an AI detector's results).

Newfound disappointment both as a scientist and as an editor: receiving shallow peer reviews that are entirely AI-generated. The whole point is critical feedback from YOU as a real expert. If reviewers are outsourcing to AI, I think we've lost the plot 🤷‍♀️ Not sure the solution.

Same AI, same RCT design, three different countries, and three different outcomes in #clinicalreasoning. Researchers ran identical randomized trials in Indonesia, Kenya, and the Netherlands, giving physicians access to ChatGPT-4o during stepwise primary care cases. Across all three countries, LLM access improved information gathering and management reasoning. Diagnostic reasoning, however, only improved in Kenya and Indonesia. In the Netherlands, baseline performance was already high, leaving little room for gain.
