@JeanPodlesak You really need to read the full report with the list of recommendations. The proposal for C-H respect the grand majority of them - can’t meet any of the rest if you keep the road dedicated to vehicle traffic.

@JillALance Hahahaha. That’s a good one. The words consultation and research should be banished from any sentence in which Projet Montreal is included. They simply impose what they want. And it’s better to have one admin complicate on-street 🅿️ than having another remove it completely.

Outremont: updated parking regulation limits public access to the Parc duMont Royal. Street parking reserved for a select few residents (who have garages and private driveways). Also allowing these property owners to park their vehicles on the public right of way. #polmtl

@JeanPodlesak Definitely. The Desbois Ensemble admin in Outremont just complicated the on-street parking situation. And did it with ZERO consultation and more importantly, ZERO sense or logic. Projet Montreal at least bases their interventions on research and best practices, like it or not.

@JillALance And you honestly believe you’d be better off with a Projet Montréal administration that is removing several thousand parking spots each year?

@SOutremont Public space should be designed and managed to best serve the greater public good. Tht includes transforming high-speed roads in parks into green promenades for people to enjoy at a humaine speed, on foot or on bike.

@JeanPodlesak As is the case with many people who choose to ride a bike as a mode of transportation in the city (because it’s fun AND efficient), I also own a car; sometimes I drive it.

@JillALance Why should you care? You can park your bicycle anywhere you want for free on the public lots.

@SOutremont I have no problem paying for a parking permit. The Desbois admin is imposing a senseless regulation that no one requested. Zone 4 serves a handful of households that all have access to private garages. It’s absurd. #polmtl

@JillALance Funny, Projet Montreal was cheering when Tomlinson abolished all free parking in the borough and now they are complaining about the effect of this policy??!! There is the possibility to pay $10 to get a daily permit.

@jeanmarcheur While walking along Duluth with my kids the other night, they read the sign that said the pedestrian street will end Oct 18th. Their response: why would they close this street? So cars can come back in? Why would they do that?! #polmtl

Vraie question: si l'association des commerçants soutient une piétonnisation à l'année sur Duluth, quelles sont les barrières ? Il n'y a de ligne de bus à ce que je sache. 🧐

The extremist Netanyahu government is wreaking havoc across the middle-east. The Canadian government should be using all of its diplomatic weight to demand a ceasefire and peace talks. ——— Israel has bombed Yemen, Lebanon, Syria and Gaza in 24 hours aje.io/f3brzr

Bombs raining down on Beirut tonight. Children will die. Parents too. The survivors will have nightmares for the rest of their lives. Vital civilian infrastructure will be destroyed. This has nothing to do with hostages. Or Oct 7. Or terrorists. Your government supports this.

@sarahdorner The pedestrianized segment of Bernard was also a popular and safe meet up spot on Halloween for trick or treaters and their entourages. Shame to close it down so early.

20th century urban planning changed the concept of a street from a place to pass time to a place to pass through. 21st century planning is about reversing that mindset and prioritizing people living in a city over cars driving through it. Ferenciek tere, Budapest: 2011 vs 2024.

A glimpse of voie Camilien-Houde as a park promenade. Temporary transformation during the Grand Prix Cycliste. Would be great to create more opportunities to allow people to experience this path on foot sans cars. #polmtl @MTL_Ville @lemontRoyal
