Israel is telling everyone in north Gaza - about 1.1 million people - to relocate to the south of the Strip in the next 24 hours. @MishalHusain asks Defence Secretary Grant Shapps if the UK government supports that order. #R4Today

@northernassist I have annual season ticket. Can't use trains on a strike day, and need to use the 'season ticket compensation form'. When there are no trains the day after a strike, what compensation do I get?

Concrete and steel are each responsible for 8% of humanity's annual CO2 emissions, meaning 16% of CO2 emissions from just two materials. For a comparison to how wild that number is: 🛩️ Aviation is 2.5% of annual emissions 📦 Shipping is 2.5% annually 🚗 All cars on the road are 15% annually Maybe concrete and steel's climate impact surprises you. Maybe you've read my posts before...but I don't think this is talked about enough, and I'm going to keep posting about it. Estimates suggest we're going to build another New York City's worth of buildings every month through 2050, which is when our global economy needs to hit net zero emissions in order to keep warming about 1.5ºC above pre-industrial levels, as set forth by the Paris Agreement. I want to see climate activism, attention, and investment go beyond the popular things like electric vehicles and sustainable packaging. There's no way we reach our climate goals without solving for difficult-to-decarbonize industries like concrete and steel.
