"sleep training" a newborn means letting a defenseless baby scream for its mother in the dark until it's either exhausted or has given up on life.
the attachment literature is clear that before 6 months, a baby crying with nobody coming learns exactly one thing, that calling for help doesn't work
and you even have parents bragging about how they tortured their kid into an 8h sleep
you need to attend to every need of your child. they don't have a prefrontal cortex able to understand what's happening. if you love them and care for them, they'll barely cry, and when they do there's a clear reason you can address right away

It's more of disappointment. Damn, I thought you were one of the good/smart ones, but you actually think like that.

accidentally hearing what people really think of you is a different level of hurt.

He's right, your frontend is doing way too much, which makes it slow and terrible.
Syncing state between the client and server is one of the most annoying and challenging parts of building a good app.
Luckily, we have some amazing sync engines like @powersync_, @zero__ms, @instant_db, @ElectricSQL, @convex, and @livestoredev to fix this problem and make development fun again

Your frontend is not slow. It’s just doing too much. Let me explain 🧵

not having to type is really nice, but i think i want to go back to manually writing the code myself and more leveraging LLMs for research and understanding of the codebase
it's just too easy to defer you thinking today and end up in a bad state
Rhys@RhysSullivan
from my experience, even the best models (Opus 4.6, 5.4 xhigh / 5.3 codex) cannot write good code today without an amount of work that is equivalent to just doing the work myself am excited for a world where they can, but in the current state i have very low trust in them

Don’t fight your kids’ battles.
Dr. Philip Mamalakis dropped some of the best parenting wisdom I’ve heard in a while.
His three daughters came home complaining that their highly respected piano teacher kept yelling at them when they made mistakes. His first instinct was to storm in and fix it for them.
Instead, he sat down with his girls and asked: “How are you going to handle this?”
They practiced a simple, respectful response together. The next lesson, his tiny middle daughter looked up at the yelling teacher and calmly said, “I can hear you better when you don’t yell at me.”
The teacher was taken aback — and it worked.
Dr. Mamalakis didn’t rush to protect them from discomfort. He walked alongside them and helped them find their own voice.
That small moment taught his daughters something far more valuable than perfect piano playing: how to speak up for themselves with courage and respect.
It’s such a powerful reminder that sometimes the best thing we can do as parents is not fight our kids’ battles for them.
