Mt Gambier South Australia this afternoon, this is syndicate-owned Victorian greyhound "Seger" in a horrible fall. He suffered a right foreleg shoulder joint injury and was given just 7 days to recover from his injuries and any trauma from the fall.
Too many greyhounds, running too fast, bunching as they approach the corner, not enough safe space - falls, injuries, deaths are predictable, inevitable, animal abuse.

Is Ladbrokes quitting NSW greyhound racing? That's the rumour. Expect an exit around Easter. If true, good riddance. Responsible for the deaths/injuries of countless dogs. WA racing officer says wagering on greyhounds down 8-10% nationwide. A dying industry relying on taxpayers

"Keep Me Close" falling badly in first race at Sale Victoria just now. He's nearly 5 years old and his last race was June 2024.
No report yet but appearing as a major 90 day injury on his fasttrack record.

A catastrophe waiting to happen at Richmond in NSW. Greyhound racing at Richmond creates an unacceptable risk for the kangaroos who live there and for the greyhounds.
* Footage includes some commentary so sound on.
Kangaroos regularly graze nearby during meetings and have numerous times entered the track area while races are running. They are chased off by staff and with buggies. I haven't looked into yet - is it even legal to chase kangaroos with a vehicle in NSW? The stress for a kangaroo being chased can be devastating.
Greyhounds do at times slip collars before races and the consequences could be horrific. Or if a greyhound sees a small kangaroo on the infield while racing or just after the finish, the kangaroo could be killed. Or of course a greyhound could be attacked by a large frightened kangaroo. Just do an internet search to find horrific examples of both.
What is the answer other than shutting down the track and greyhound racing? A roo proof fence? I don't know, but this cannot continue.

Richmond NSW last night, footage is "Fly Around" breaking down with a fractured left wrist. 90 days incapacitation if they don't kill her. She had reached nearly 70 km/h when her suffering began. Predictable, inevitable suffering on the Richmond and other tracks, day after day after day. The report notes a large kangaroo was trying to escape and exited from the infield while the race was running. Unclear from the footage I have seen if the greyhounds spotted the roo and were distracted. Kangaroos are an ongoing serious risk for both the greyhounds and the kangaroos at Richmond - will post about separately shortly. The censoring of footage by GRNSW is inconsistent and often makes no sense. This replay is not currently available on the GRNSW website and has been edited to remove the awkward looking parts on other sites. These familiar and always shocking images provide further important evidence of a pattern of abuse and suffering inflicted on greyhounds in NSW on a daily basis. These images are further evidence of unsafe NSW tracks and the serious risks faced by greyhounds when running on these tracks. GRNSW claims to prioritise animal welfare. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: With a comprehensive and detailed list in paw, Fuji Apple came prepared to review each and every point with me. Lilly has a lot of energy and is very quick to overstimulate with handling. She would benefit from interactive play at a safe distance so that she can expend her energy constructively, such as puzzle toys, lick mats, cat dancers and fishing pole type toys, etc. Lilly is social and interested in people but only tolerates brief petting before swatting/nipping, which could potentially result in bite/scratch incidents. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. A volunteer writes: Lilly is a beautiful calico girl only about 3 years old. She seems to have a lot of energy and enjoys to play. Her favorite toys are wand toys, specifically anything with a feather for her to batt her paws at. Lilly plays a bit rough sometimes and I think would do great in a home that can play with her to tire her out, understands cats, and can respect her boundaries. Lilly is a sweet, social girl and seems to enjoy attention but can be a bit particular about petting and handling.
