The Badass Navy Seawolves of HA(L)-3 flew into action in Vietnam on April 1, 1967. All-volunteer crews in armed UH-1 Huey gunships delivered close air support to river boats and SEALs in the Mekong Delta.🫡🌴🇺🇸

Seawolf Shadow Warrior: Randall “Randy” Lindberg In the steamy labyrinth of the Mekong Delta, where the jungle hid death at every turn, Randall “Randy” Lindberg flew with HA(L)-3, the Seawolves, the U.S. Navy’s only dedicated helicopter attack squadron of the Vietnam War. A member of Detachment 2, Randy served as aircrew and pilot aboard the heavily armed UH-1B Huey gunships that became the silent lifeline for Navy SEALs and Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT). These weren’t ordinary missions. The Seawolves operated deep in the gray, conducting lightning-fast covert insertions and extractions behind enemy lines, armed reconnaissance runs, and hot extractions under withering fire. Many of their most dangerous operations were classified from day one. Minimal paperwork. No after-action reports for the missions that truly mattered. They flew low-level, tree-top dashes in the dead of night, scrambling in under three minutes, 24/7, any weather, to support the most shadowy, deniable special operations of the war. Before Cambodia was ever “official,” Seawolf crews like Randy’s routinely crossed the border on unauthorized strikes against enemy sanctuaries, bending the rules to get the job done where others wouldn’t dare. The Seawolves became one of the most highly decorated squadrons in Navy history precisely because of these high-risk, low-visibility covert missions. Though Randy passed away a while ago, his legend lives on in the stories of the men he flew with and the SEALs he pulled from the fire. #Seawolves #HAL3 #SeawolfPilot #CovertOps #VietnamWar #NavySEALs #UDT #SpecialOperations #MekongDelta #ShadowWarrior #YouWillNotBeForgotten
