They slammed into the atmosphere at ~24,000 mph (Mach 33), far hotter and faster than low-Earth orbit returns (~17,500 mph). Orion's heat shield hit 5,000°F, and NASA streamed it live with speed commentary because it's a big milestone for the Artemis program heading to a lunar landing. Routine ISS stuff doesn't compare.
