This Teacher Appreciation Week, this school year, was dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and brother who we lost tragically in November. He was the definition of our theme, #LoveAndLiberation, a living example of what it meant to "Believe in yourself or no one else will."

Just a thought. NC is home to 10% of all HBCUs in America. If we want more TOCs, why not create an HBCU Teaching Fellows program? Current TF expansion plans to include “at least one” HBCU seem to miss the moment. #TheNC10 @CREED_NC @JEFordNCTOY @Morristeach1 @Principal_SES

@DrLisaHerring Families should be able to take their children's education dollars elsewhere regardless of the reopening decision Education funding is supposed to be meant for educating children - not for protecting a government monopoly. We should fund students instead of institutions.

Smartest thing I heard from a supt recently: As part of reopening planning, arrange a simulated school day (or even 1/2 day) for key stakeholders (supt, bd, union pres, etc) to "attend" school under draft plan. From bus to class to bathroom, walk in their shoes b4 deciding.
