Midtown High School was honored to host civil rights leader JT Johnson for a powerful student listening session✨. Mr. Johnson, age 87 and a member of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Ground Crew, shared reflections from his work in the Civil Rights Movement and a lifetime of activism. Students engaged in meaningful dialogue about inclusion, representation, and building connections across differences, including increasing diversity in advanced coursework and strengthening school-wide inclusivity.⭐Mr. Johnson encouraged students to embrace the freedoms secured through the movement and to lead with understanding, respect, and openness toward others. The conversation left students inspired to continue building a more unified school community. #AtlantaPublicSchools

In celebration of Earth Day 🌎, students at Dunbar Elementary rolled up their sleeves and got to work alongside community partners to help clean up the routes they use to walk to school. With support from the Safe Routes to School program @ATLDOT, @TreesAtlanta, and the Atlanta Beautiful Commission, the day was filled with energy, teamwork, and purpose. Students were incredibly excited to take part and showed a strong understanding of why it’s so important to keep our planet clean and care for the spaces we share. From picking up litter to learning about environmental stewardship, they made a meaningful impact in their community, proving that even small actions can make a big difference. 💚 #APSCares #AtlantaPublicSchools #HappyEarthDay
