Text your kid all you want. They’re not going to see it during my class though, because if they’re on their phone, it’s getting confiscated and you can come pick it up from the principal after school. Entitled and enabling parents are as much of the problem as the system itself.

There’s no law that a parent can’t text their child dude. You are a teacher not a dictator. These people are forced to come to school to listen to you teach whatever your state tells you to teach, if you’re in public schools. There’s no law that parents aren’t allowed to communicate with their child or send a text during any certain set hours. Thank God. Scolding parents like you’re the warden of their children is a truly gross look. Find something better to complain about. Parents being in touch with their kids?? No. Schools, teachers, and systems telling parents they don’t have purview over their own children is part of what facilitated MK Ultra, GATE programs and ***Epstein-esque lists***, etc. There are plenty of legit and timely “best interest of children” soap boxes to hop on and you’re sidestepping ALLLLLLLLL of them here.

@teachthemx3 You can’t just steal a kid’s property lmao. Doesn’t matter how much you don’t like it. The phone is theirs. “Walking out” is the least of your concern if you try to steal their stuff for a month. Try jail time for theft.

The reason schools don’t enforce real consequences? Students would leave. And when students leave, funding follows. We have kids who refuse to give up their phones… and we hand them right back at the end of the day. 1st offense or 50th, it doesn’t matter. If it were actually taken for a month, many would walk out. So instead of changing behavior, we lower expectations.

You don’t have the right to make financial decisions for the child. Your “guardianship” is barely more than a daycare worker. They are not your children.

@bclarksandiego @SanchezMamacita @travisakers @booklady2002 HIPAA and FERPA exists for a reason. A teacher is not a doctor and is not a legal guardian. A teacher has 0 rights to know the medical history of their students unless absolutely necessary. And if it can be managed without their knowledge, ie with a cell phone, it isn’t necessary

@PeterHamby Elon paid more in tax than any other American in the history of the country. All government money that his companies got was through CONTRACTS which is the government purchasing a service. Services that would have been more expensive to purchase somewhere else. Idiot.

@esjesjesj This is such a dumb argument. Then you can argue that having to write makes voting harder. Needing to go to a mailbox makes voting harder. At some point you’ve got to draw the line. And showing your damn ID to make sure you’re actually allowed to vote is WAY before that line

@simscircuit That’s ridiculous. It doesn’t matter whether Mercedes are doing it on purpose or not. It doesn’t matter whether they benefit or not. The rule is being broken. You can’t DSQ a team over a half millimeter gap in a rear wing from a loose screw and then turn around and let this go.

If a family can manage it without you, there is literally no reason that you should feel entitled to that information. You aren’t their doctor or their parent.

@travisakers Kids are required to be in school. They’re not required to pay attention to you. If you have a problem with their phone, talk to the parents. If the parents don’t care then stfu and get on with your job because they aren’t your kids and you can’t do what you want with them.
