Out today in @CellCellPress ! We show that oscillations in norepinephrine and cerebral blood volume are the missing pieces that link NREM sleep to clearance of waste from the brain 🧠💤 cell.com/cell/fulltext/…

Online now! Cervical lymphatics drain CSF and clear metabolic waste from the brain. Du et al., show using 2P-OPTIC that these are disrupted in aging due to reduced pumping. Restoring cervical lymphatic function with PGF2a rescues brain clearance. doi.org/10.1038/s43587…

#URochesterResearch via @NatureAging shows how scientists restored the brain’s ability to clear toxic waste in older mice with a drug that's currently used to induce labor. This points to a potential new treatment for #Alzheimers and #Parkinsons. Paper: go.nature.com/46WCR8F 👇Watch the aging lymphatic system – less contractions in the older mouse (right) causing the waste to stop and flow in different directions.
