I’m currently reading and cataloging handwritten letters from the 19th century for an archival project. These letters have not been transcribed, uploaded to the Internet, or otherwise made publicly accessible for AI to scrape. These are the things used to write dissertations.

There are PhDs being handed out each day to people living in the past: the students, their advisors, their universities. Dissertations that took 5 years of work, and which 4.6 Opus could re-produce then improve on in an afternoon.
