Drake used multiple beats on ICEMAN from producers he discovered online, providing them an incredible platform. The album was then released to DSPs without credits in the metadata, so none of them are earning any recognition. Always credit your producers.

My opinion hasn’t changed from years ago — his actual rapping ability regressed into remedial nonsense when he leaned into writing lines for IG captions instead of storytelling. Every line is written for groupies to post instead of building to a good song.

HipHopDX, which launched in 1999, was one of the biggest treasure troves of Hip-Hop history online. I've sourced it countless times for research & writings. It was rich w/ forgotten news stories & weird moments. The internet is NOT forever. Smh Hopefully it's not gone for good

Deeply Honored to be named the 2026 National Association of Black Journalists (@NABJ) Journalist of the Year. This recognition means a great deal to me. For years, I joked that I was a non-award-winning journalist, so I guess it’s finally time to update the LinkedIn. 😂

The notion that grad students can’t make ends meet is absolutely ridiculous to me. I live a mile away from Harvard. I am essentially a grad student (albeit on a full professor’s salary). I’m making it work. Why can’t they?

A disabled Army veteran and her amputee husband were pulled over on a dark Georgia highway after a police database claimed they had “no insurance.” The officer refused to review the proof of coverage on her phone or the paper policy in her hand, had their car towed, loaded her non‑ambulatory husband into a wheelchair, and left them on the roadside in the middle of the night. USAA has since confirmed their policy was active the entire time. This wasn’t a lack of insurance — it was a broken system and a lack of basic humanity. As a result of this incident, the city apologized, tossed the ticket, refunded the tow, and says it “counseled” the officer after opening an internal investigation. But we all know how these encounters can end. Too many families never make it home from traffic stops after trying to prove they have the right documents. How many more lives have to be shattered before this system changes? 🎥: @wtoc11

community college challenges every classist notion of education and academia and having access to it has changed my life. it should be preserved, supported, and destigmatized with everything we have. hard to name a more precious educational resource for those over 18.

Clarence Carter’s song ‘Patches’ is one that you have to add to your musical library. It’s a record about how Black masculinity, under conditions of deprivation, is often shaped not by choice, but by struggle. The idea of being “the man of the house” is put on a Black boy, arrives not as freedom, but as responsibility beyond his years.

Clarence Carter, the blind Southern soul star whose songs were often as emotionally profound as they were delightfully bawdy, died Thursday, May 14. He was 90. rollingstone.com/music/music-ne…

During Michael Jackson’s live shows, I’d add drum accents in real time to enhance the choreography, movement, emotion, and energy on stage. Almost like a foley artist…but through percussion.
