If you trace the modern left wing to it's origins, it's a massive memetics campaign by the CCP. And, from their perspective, it's been going great.

I was thinking it's interesting how even last year, I was afraid of being thought of as someone who used AI. Like I might "get in trouble" if the boss' boss knew how I was leveraging it. Now it's the opposite. If you don't use it, you're a luddite and sabotaging your career.

@kumxem I dunno, if the choice is 38C or 0C, I will take 38C every time. I like it hot. I know "you can bundle up against the cold" but I'd rather sit in a tank top, shorts, a cold drink, and a fan than bundle up and have a cold face.

I am thinking of trying this though. Not an "AI written book" but using AI as a tool to help me write one. I have book ideas but not the knowledge or experience to get my ideas organized and fleshed out properly. I could probably spend 2 years taking classes and studying and maybe get a start on it but I could also probably start tomorrow if I leverage AI. (Why haven't I? Because I have too many other ideas I want to work on and "write a book" is further down the list. I'm making a web based strategy game right now and I have a real-time-tactical dungeon crawler that's functional but which I need to get back to and really flesh out if I want it to go anywhere. I got more ideas than time.) (Why am I on X then? Well, I don't want to have too much project overlap and the AI is crunching on my overhaul of how unit movement should work in the web game. When it's done, I want to try it out and iterate from there....)

This is why I think the show had amazing potential and could have been great, had @therealKripke not destroyed it with his own politics. It seemed to be taking the path you brought up. Is Homelander responsible for his own actions? To what extent is upbringing an excuse? Does "redemption" come into it at all? Can Homelander have a big change of philosophy and turn around in the end? (Maybe a "Darth Vader throws Palpatine over the railing" moment?) What does his upbringing mean for the show? We'll never know. Kripke has stated that Homelander represented Trump. That's the show. All the degradation Homelander went through (which was not from the comics) was not leading up to a great story or hard-thinking ending. It was just Kripke, in his own mind, degrading Donald Trump. For 5 seasons. The ending makes perfect sense once you realize the entire show was a Kripke humiliation fantasy about Trump and not, you know, ever meant to be a real story. (He even killed off an Elon Musk stand-in which had nothing to do with anything other than another Kripke political fantasy.)

Homelander is one of the most hated villains in television. But here’s the question: If a child grows up without genuine love, surrounded only by people who fear him, use him, or lie to him… At what point does he become fully responsible for the monster he becomes? Was Homelander born evil, or was he created? Curious to hear your thoughts.

I live on the east coast but I'm 3 hours away by car (which is the fastest) from the actual proper ocean shoreline (I could get to a bay in about half that time but that's not exactly "the ocean"). I rarely go but I know others who go regularly. There are plenty of states where an ocean trip would be a big hassle, though.

@Kshi_nippon 100% would not work in America. I'm fairly convinced it's already starting to break down in Japan, as Japan brings in increasing numbers of foreigners who are not going to adapt to Japanese lifestyle or culture.

One thing that confuses many foreigners about Japan 🇯🇵 There are surprisingly few public trash cans. And yet… the streets are still incredibly clean. Many Japanese people simply carry their trash home with them. For them, keeping shared spaces clean is just common sense. Could this work in your country?

@EricLDaugh There should be terrorism laws that apply here. It is 100% their intent: to terrorize ICE agents into not going into work. Just because they aren't blowing things up doesn't mean it's not terrorism. Illegally blocking streets is also a form of terrorism.

We need to resolve charging issues. Where I live is detached parking. I have no way to plug in. Not sure I want an EV if I have to rely on public charging options. This could change with FSD and induction chargers though. If I can go home, and send my car out to recharge itself, I would get a Tesla tomorrow. Kinda hoping my next car might be a Robotaxi but I'll be surprised if the legislative loops have been bypassed in the next 10 years. Especially in my state: the People's Republic of Maryland, where they hate all EVs because Musk Man Bad.

I don’t understand why every vehicle isn’t a hybrid. Why not use regenerative braking to charge a battery in every car? Huge increase in gas mileage. Why do they still make non-hybrids?

Same reason I can't watch anything with @pattonoswalt in it anymore. He's SO obnoxious with everything he says that it's impossible to see him on screen in any role and not think "what an obnoxious little prick". I like to think I can separate the character from the actor, or the performance from the politics, but when they just spew absolute trash opinions nonstop, it becomes impossible to separate the two.
