@RealJKay

I used to like to think I could drive like a racing driver. I have finally come to the conclusion that I am just a fat middle aged ham fisted pretender.

So our l322 is still great but its on 165k...it was time to think about changing for something fresher. Toyed over an ev etron or some other sensible options. We decided on this 1 owner 44k mile 5.0 supercharged range rover sport. No tints and small wheels! Its superb

The Cadbury's Dairy Milk sold in South Africa contains only 20% cocoa solids; the rest is vegetable oils & fats. In other countries it wouldn't be considered to be chocolate & couldn't be legally called chocolate...learning new madness every day.

No institution is uninterested in small business than a bank. I went to them with a purchase order from a reputable listed firm and they still denied me the loan I needed for project kick off costs. I had to borrow against my mother’s house. I’d been banking with them for years. Just don’t bother. They’ll give you all the money you need once you prove you don’t need it though.

FNB LAUNCHES SME INITIATIVE FNB has launched an 18-month Digital Enablement Initiative for South Africa’s 1.2 million SMEs. Run with Edge Growth, it targets manufacturing, logistics, construction, and green economy firms facing rapid digital disruption. The initiative tackles three barriers: limited digital skills, high costs, and poor funding access. FNB’s Palesa Moeletsi (pictured) warns that digital transformation is now “foundational” for survival. Without adaptation, she says, businesses will increasingly struggle to compete. It is wild to watch the economic situation in South Africa right now They’ve passed 145+ racist laws in the name of “redress” and the policies are completely backfiring Under BEE, Black unemployment is actually climbing, and a massive talent exodus is bleeding billions from their economy Meaning those policies didn’t even help Black people and instead increased the unemployment rate among them It completely punished the entire country's growth You do not build a strong future by punishing competence

I'm tired of seeing potholes swallow our cars while young men sit on corners doing nothing. Pay them to fix the roads. Pay them to clean the drains. Pay them to plant trees. It's not permanent, but it's dignity. Start there

@andyps1275 TDV8 Andy - the 3.8. Full service history, 152K miles and an amazing MOT record. Just done four tyres and alignment, and a brake inspection. It has had new disks all round recently. In now for a service

The Disco 3 was sold last month, and then Parker the horse arrived. This is serious. So I've bought a car. What could possibly go wrong?

@rodcampsbay Rod, stop being stupid. No-one has to "give away" 30%. Empowerment deals involve SELLING 30% to a BEE partner.

You’re 100% correct Mudzunga. But your statement begs the question: why are there no jobs? The answer is simple. Investors do not want to invest their money in businesses only to find that they have to pay a 30% of the value of their investment as a fine to be given away to ne’er do wells who contribute nothing to the business. (or even as much as 50%) Further, they don’t want their assets expropriated without compensation, because that could mean that the entire business is expropriated as well as the houses, cars and even intellectual property of the entrepreneur Investor. Abandon the racist apartheid BBBEE. Commit to the inviolability of asset ownership and stop vilifying minority race groups. Then you will see the economy surge thus creating a plethora of new jobs.
Mudzunga@Dzungie007

People are forcing this “reverse apartheid” narrative, meanwhile the real issue is simple: there are no jobs. That’s what’s hurting South Africans.

Manual gearbox conversions are moving into the mainstream, with high-end specialists reworking cars like Ferrari 360 CS, M3 CSL and even 458 Speciale. Once niche, they raise a bigger question: preserve originality or tailor cars to driver engagement? I ask the experts... 1/3

@TateTheTalisman In SA🇿🇦, we are not racist to white people. But if the rest of the world and some rascist Afrikaners are complaining about the imaginary racism we the natives we have against them, I'd say mission accomplished. Now they know how it feels to be judged because of your skin color

But this is why they have these ‘special’ helmet designs. A fan would buy just one model helmet if that was the only design. This way, they can keep selling the same thing but with a different paint job, time after time. F1 is great at separating the gullible from their money.
Jon@RealJKay

@GrandPrixDiary I don’t get it. The branding and merchandise opportunities alone of a fixed helmet design are huge for a driver.

Hill I’ll die on: brioche buns make bad burgers and hot dogs. An urban legend has arisen that it’s the right way and supermarkets love selling pricier options. Normal buns are better and cheaper.
