While we’re talking about inconsequential TCG pet peeves, I can’t STAND when my opponent hands me their deck and asks “cut or tap?” Shuffling is an option too and it’s usually the one I’m going to do! (Also high roll. God I hate high roll.)

@Kagrawaling Having premium and standard be different than Houston and not giving time to look at the difference before buying really isn't great, especially since premium was $200 more. They could have released the different options and their price points hours before the link.

Riftbound sign up issues Link was either leaked before becoming available, or bots were spamming the registration page and the moment the password went down, the website was unusable ?? There was a VAT applied to Las Vegas so people paid $610 but didn't know this until checkout, and risked losing their spot if they cancelled or went back. Extremely unethical business practice to not show the total price upfront in a race to sign up Other thoughts - Why do we only have 1 regional but Asia has 4? - How many spots does Vegas have and can it be increased?

@Em_TeeGee I definitely must have imagined women losing the right to abortion in many states. Legacy media must have misreported that. Making choices about one's own body is a right EVERYONE should have, and taking parts away is the first step in taking all of it away.

Nah, stop trying to make this ok. it was a FIVE minute turn, and he tried to appeal the decision 🙄 and his following turn continue to be slow and was not penalized. Bradner is known to be this slow and this was on stream, it's like the rules don't apply to him at all (imagine off stream)

I made a reply calling out Bradner regarding the slow play incident on stream at worlds and this is what happened. He has yet to make a statement regarding it and just blocks people who bring it up. I don’t see why he’d be doing this if he wasn’t guilty.

This person was saying the idea it was expected that a woman would throw away a baby if she didn't want it was "wild" and you said it seemed straightforward a woman would do that if they weren't allowed to abort and didn't want it. So I was asking what if the woman didn't want a one year old rather than a newborn, would that be okay, since if you assume they're both babies, throwing away one would be murder same as throwing away the other.

@JohnRuml Yes, but that’s the trade off for getting rid of intentional draws which I think is a net positive. But yeah, definitely punishes control vs control, which in turn leads to less control bring played. I think that can be fixed with the card pool though

@TheTrueYako Yeah, I mean the draws which are treated as double losses. Very punishing system!

watching some Star Wars Unlimited. This is another "any card as resource" game but your land drop has to happen at the beginning of the turn right after draw step 1/

@JohnRuml By draw rate you mean games going to time? Because there are no draws in SWU, both players get a loss instead. Unless SCG decided to do things differently?

I think this is a huge factor in what makes the draw rate so high. Deciding what to resource is an important decision and you have a tiny window to make it. But I think I'd be so tilted having to sit there while my opp tanks in the resource phase

@InsayneHayne @PascalMaynard @WUCtrl It's a good game. Lots of decisions, less variance than MTG. It's similar to the old WoW TCG game but with 2 lanes instead of one and no instants. Players alternate actions, they don't each have a separate turn.

My ranking of TCGs that I have tried: This is an overall ranking which includes gameplay + art/design. The enchanted foils in Lorcana are stunning. Magic Lorcana Star Wars Unlimited One Piece I can see myself playing Lorcana competitively. Can’t say the same for OP or SWU.

@JohnRuml @PascalMaynard We already trust the system to pair correctly, and we already trust our opponents not to cheat when rolling the dice, seems to me like trusting the system to decide play/draw isn't much of a leap. Also testing the algo would be fairly easy if it was made public.

@PascalMaynard Fear of responsibility. Low info magic players are going to be inherently suspicious of whether or not the computer's play/draw is *truly* random. And imagine if it ever came out that it wasn't! (minor mistake in the algo, etc)

I need to understand why we are not using tournament softwares to determine play/draw. I never heard a satisfactory reasoning from any entity. If anyone knows specifically why WotC isnt doing obviously that'd be great. Please help me sleep at night.
