Finally setup git worktrees and now I'm burning through my codex usage in a few days. Since I can work on multiple tickets and branches at once. Fine by me. Then I get longer breaks I guess.

@0xglitchbyte Kinda annoyed they reverted the recent change of allowing location based rage baiting. Before we even got to see if it would make it less bs posting on here.

Starting Thursday, we'll be updating our revenue sharing incentives to better reward the content we want on X: We will be giving more weight to impressions from your home region—to encourage content that resonates with people in your country, in neighboring countries and people who speak your language. While we appreciate everyone's opinion on American politics, we hope this will disincentivize gaming the attention of US or Japanese accounts and instead, drive diverse conversations on the platform. We invite creators to start building an audience locally. X will be a much richer community when there's relevant posts for people in all parts of the world.

project hail mary was unfortunately a middling adaptation of a good book. the script has the unfortunate affect of “language model populism” - where every single line has to be some sort of punched up comedic zinger yet still unremarkable. visuals were uninspired and trite and more or less identical to other space movies. everything good about the film comes from the wonderful world scaffolding of the book and the hard science fiction of it all that lets you suspend disbelief on the alien rocky the movie doesn’t really try to get into the xenolinguistic stuff even at the depth the book tries (someone called it “arrival for idiots” which unfortunately hit ) the thing that elevated the book is the commitment to a hard science fiction engineeringporn fiction at a level nobody else is able to write. the direction of the movie doesn’t really convey the same feeling successfully, and you’re left with flat characters, an alien that is more human than several humans i know, and a marvel populism gosling and the german woman are great as actors, but this movie will not be remembered in a year. it is disappointing to see people do so little with a quarter billion, insane acting talent, and incredible source IP

@Stulord1 @VanLathan You’re not. Feel the same way. The book was better and you should read it if you haven’t

@VanLathan I feel like I’m living in an alternate reality. The Project Hail Mary movie that I watched was solid but nowhere near what the internet is making it out to be.

Had to go see Project Hail Mary right away (it's based on the book of Andy Weir, of also The Martian fame). Both very pleased and relieved to say that 1) the movie sticks very close to the book in both content and tone and 2) is really well executed. The book is one of my favorites when it comes to alien portrayals because a lot of thought was clearly given to the scientific details of an alternate biochemistry, evolutionary history, sensorium, psychology, language, tech tree, etc. It's different enough that it is highly creative and plausible, but also similar enough that you get a compelling story and one of the best bromances in fiction. Not to mention the other (single-cellular) aliens. I can count fictional portrayals of aliens of this depth on one hand. A lot of these aspects are briefly featured - if you read the book you'll spot them but if you haven't, the movie can't spend the time to do them justice. I'll say that the movie inches a little too much into the superhero movie tropes with the pacing, the quips, the Bathos and such for my taste, and we get a little bit less the grand of Interstellar and a little bit less of the science of The Martian, but I think it's ok considering the tone of the original content. And it does really well where it counts - on Rocky and the bromance. Thank you to the film crew for the gem!

After reading "Project Hail Mary" in a week to finish before the movie came out. All my favorite aspects of the book. Mostly the scientific nerdy sides. Seemed to be replaced with a quick skip over. Only pulled out the few jokes. Kind of disappointed, but a decent movie.

@jamwt The best code it's produced for me/team. Was using the examples of months of previous work. Not creating it's own. When it's let to it's own devices. I'm not sure if the extra time spent reviewing the code is always worth it. Only thing I love is it's push to start, when stuck

When we label things like "assault rifle". Is it supposed to mean. A weapon used in a violent physical attack. Or is it supposed to mean a rifle that causes reasonable fear without any physical contact? Seems there are two different meanings of "Assault". Dictionary and legalese. Webster dictionary: a violent physical or verbal attack Legalese: Assault is the intentional, unlawful threat or act causing reasonable fear of imminent harmful/offensive contact, often without requiring physical contact, which distinguishes it from battery (the actual physical strike).

Finally, someone from our Mechanical Keyboard community (Thank you Özkan) lent me a hand. I wanted to change the switches of my Kinesis 360 for a long time. Unfortunately, they are not hot swappable, so I need to desolder them. He desoldered the existing switches of my Kinesis 360 and is now changing them with better ones. The new switches are Gateron Beer (tactile), and the previous ones were Kailh White Clicky. I never liked them because of the feel. The Gateron's will be much better. Looking forward to using them.
