@cee_cee_05 @QueenMab87 Yes. This is the fault toddlers without a library card who use libraries. Why should we put any tax money toward public good when we could spend billions in Iran to do atrocities like triple tap a girls elementary school in Minab. The toddlers here are clearly the problem

@cee_cee_05 @QueenMab87 Most of the parents and caregivers do. The children are toddlers. I fully agree more people should have them, but that doesn’t change the current reality for those who rely on libraries

You know what else emits a dim light around 6 am
Aakash Gupta@aakashgupta

Mark Zuckerberg engineered a custom hardware device for his wife in 2019. No clock face. One faint light. A one-hour window. Priscilla had a specific problem. She'd wake up in the middle of the night, check her phone for the time, and the number itself spiked her anxiety. 4am meant worry about the kids waking soon. 5:30 meant calculating whether to just get up. The information was the trigger. Most engineers approach "can't sleep" by adding things to the bedroom. A meditation app. A Hatch alarm. A weighted blanket. A sleep coach. Mark removed the variable that was running the wake-up loop. The Sleep Box sits on Priscilla's nightstand and shows nothing for 23 hours a day. Between 6am and 7am it emits a single faint light. Faint enough not to wake her if she's still asleep. Visible enough that if she's already up, she knows it's okay to start the day. The rest of the night, dark. No clock. No time display. If she wakes at 3am she has no data to push her cortisol up with, so she goes back to sleep. He wrote the firmware and built the enclosure himself. No team, no procurement, no Meta resources. He posted the result on Instagram and said it worked better than he expected. The design move most CEOs would never run is the personal one. The instinct is to outsource a family problem to a specialist. A sleep coach. A doctor. A consumer electronics startup with a Series B and a marketing budget. Mark intervened at a specific link in the chain. Time data hitting Priscilla's brain at 3am was what broke sleep. The phone got moved off the nightstand and replaced with a box that physically cannot deliver that data. The box has no clock. That's the entire product.

@mai_komagata @QueenMab87 That’s just provably incorrect. They’re underfunded because *wealthy* people don’t use them. Side note; what’s in it for you to go on here to argue against something that actively benefits people, at the fraction of the cost you pay in taxes to harm and murder people?

@mai_komagata @QueenMab87 No. Libraries are underfunded because they are a rare cost-free asset to our most vulnerable. Especially children. If we stopped putting billions toward blowing up little girls in Minab, then triple tapping the EMTs, perhaps we could improve our society

@Stablebuddy198 @QueenMab87 if people were clamoring for library space to their local gov'ts, instead of wondering what the mythical public workspace should be then we'd have more of them.

@QueenMab87 I work with children and so many playgroups have been shut down because the library is closed. We have been trying to take the kids for walks together but it’s not the same as having a space for them to play, explore and interact with each other. Plus it’s weather dependent

@beyoncegarden Women like this deserve it. They are desperate to be with men that don't give a f*** about them to begin with. It should have ended in the talking stages but she carried on anyway out of desperation. Men like this don't suddenly stop caring. He never did

@TheDragon13527 @beyoncegarden He probably work 8-12 hours a day and she scrolls TikTok for the same amount of time. It sucks when u work all day and the person ur with does nothing but make excuses why they can't keep the house clean or cook anything. That's my guess.

Blood is lost in periods. Calcium is lost in childbirth. Energy is lost in endless work. Sleep is lost in caregiving. Dreams are postponed without applause. And women are still called "too emotional."
