Aokiji fought Akainu for 10 days Akainu clashed with the world's strongest man Whitebeard Whitebeard clashed with Shanks Shanks beat Loki, who was strong enough to oneshot Harald. And Harald could never tame Ragnir either, so Loki even without his df scales above him. Harald fought with Xebec to a standstill, whose swordsmanship is drawn attention to as being particularly powerful. Roger's swordsmanship is never glazed like this and PRIME Garp was only ever equals with him, but neither have feats against Xebec like Harald does.

Aokiji got speed blitzed by Old Garp and knocked out by 2-3 times. Garp had to get weakened and ganged up on in order to lose. Prime Garp would be absolute overkill

@neveraired Also if Shiryu used Haki on that blade and stabbed Aokiji, it would do the exact same thing. Prove me wrong

@Surfbone2 Isn't this an argument for my point? Garp got weakened by him and then knocked him down with a hakiless punch, so both of them have shit tier durability. Why wouldn't I assume Aokiji could do worse to him?

@neveraired Because Aokiji didn’t do worse to him, he actively got dominated that whole fight despite the circumstances Garp was under. The point is Everyone likes to make the excuse that Aokiji was “mentally nerf” but neglect Garp being stated to be physically nerfed during the fight

@neveraired Dawg, One Piece characters do the whole “jumping in front of someone to save them from a blow” all the time, it is basically a trope. You not remember Ace??? Also, nice going just ignoring my previous argument and saying he “cucked down to Shiryu” when he did this right after

@Surfbone2 Garp wouldn't need to do all this shit if he was stronger than Aokiji the entire time. How do you expect me to infer that he was winning if you're telling me he had to cuck down to Shiryu???

@LightYa90158140 No, you just didn’t read the fight. When Garp said that, it was a part of his response to Aokiji’s question of whether he’s ready to kill him to save Koby. Also, Aokiji being concerned for Garp’s injuries doesn’t mean he was wavering. Read the definition again

@neveraired He didn’t get “fucked up” by him, he willingly took a stab in stomach by him in efforts to save Koby. And why is your first assumption that it downplays Garp and not upscales Shiryu? Being featless doesn’t indicate one or the other.

@Surfbone2 @zkimdracula Teach, who has respect for legends even beyond their actual abilities like Garp and Rayleigh, stated that he believed Kuzan could do it alone and only him, in fact. All the elements in the manga lead to the conclusion that Kuzan is stronger than old Garp.

@ryzen934z @zkimdracula The reason Aokiji doesn’t do that is b/c Garp puts himself into a situation where Aokiji has the opportunity to captured him. But that means sacrificing the chase for Koby. Since Garp is a more valuable hostage Also, no need to presumptuous about me, it ain’t that serious

Pizarro says that Kuzan can freeze the sea where Koby’s ship is, but he doesn’t do it why? Push your thinking further instead of focusing so much on pws

@ryzen934z @zkimdracula I never said “beat him” I said “beating him down.” And how is his dominance not proof of that? What are you using as a basis to give Aokiji such charity even in the face of such evidence?

@Surfbone2 @zkimdracula And old Garp never defeated Aokiji in the manga. Please focus on what you can actually see in the manga and don’t jump to hasty conclusions. Yes, old Garp dominated Kuzan, but no, he didn’t beat him. And old Garp’s domination over Kuzan is not strict proof of his superiority

@Surfbone2 @zkimdracula Personally, I think Kuzan is stronger than Garp from a narrative standpoint, but I completely agree with you that Garp has better on-screen feats for now, and that his title doesn’t imply superiority over his prime version.

@ryzen934z @zkimdracula Garp’s statement about “Weavering is a sign of weakness” was in response to Aokiji asking him if he’s ready to kill him to save Koby. It was not about Aokiji When does Aokiji hesitate? And how is Aokiji being concerned for Garp’s injuries mean he’s physically weaker?

@Surfbone2 @zkimdracula Garp talks about hesitation, and we even have panels in the manga explaining that hesitation is the biggest weakness, mentioned twice by Rayleigh and in Alabasta. Kuzan says he’s worried about Garp’s injuries? Someone who worries about their opponent’s injuries wants to kill?

@matthew57484633 The argument of him being knocked out is based on how long he stays down after Garp’s punches. And regardless, it’s clear he’s not tanking his attacks and is clearly overwhelmed by Garp’s AP.

@Surfbone2 This don’t prove he’s unconscious only thing you could say is if he was unconscious is with blue hole but even then could be how far Garp threw him underground and it’s not ridiculous to say this since Akainu was in a similar situation

@ryzen934z @zkimdracula Where does that get stated? Aokiji was not nerfed and the evidence for it is dishonest. Prime Garp has way better feats than Aokiji and ultimately was beating him down as an Old Man. What falls under sophism is the over reliance on the title of Admiral for Aokiji’s scaling

@Surfbone2 @zkimdracula And using Garp’s feats as an old man against a nerfed Aokiji, when it’s explicitly stated that Kuzan is stronger than that older version, is bad faith. Concluding that his prime version would beat Kuzan is just a sophism. It’s just called a non sequitur.

@neveraired Also, Garp was actively having to deal with the rest of the island, save Koby from dying, inspire Koby to realize his potential, AND fight Aokiji at the same time. While also giving them the ability to escape without being pursued. This is all as Old Garp btw

Just based on how Hachinosu didn't end up looking like Punk Hazard leads me to believe he held back. In Marineford he couldn't go all out for the sake of protecting the island, but he's under no oath like that in Blackbeard's crew. Fact is that Kuzan only used 3 moves to win the fight (not that Ice Ball does any damage). So if you're still asking me how Aokiji's stronger than old Garp I'd point back to the fact he went down to a punch and an icicle spear to the chest. Also, according to you, Garp sacrificed himself so idk why he'd stoop to that unless he wasn't confident in beating Aokiji.
