Lying sack of sh*t: In 2018, Steyer nearly ran against Newsom in the gubernatorial race but ultimately withdrew, citing strategic concerns. In April 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Newsom appointed Steyer as co-chair of the State Task Force on Business and Jobs Recovery, alongside Newsom’s chief of staff, Ann O’Leary. Steyer was also named Chief Advisor to the Governor on Business and Jobs Recovery, effectively filling a key role left vacant by Lenny Mendonca’s resignation. This appointment was notable because Steyer, a prominent Democratic activist and former presidential candidate, brought a strong focus on economic equity and climate change—issues that sometimes put him at odds with business leaders. Despite criticism from some corporate groups concerned about his policy agenda, Newsom and Steyer worked together on recovery planning. Their collaboration continued into 2025, with Steyer supporting Newsom’s redistricting initiative (Proposition 50), spending $12 million on ads to boost its passage

🚨 Oakland Taxpayers Are Being Played. 🚨 Right now the City of Oakland is claiming two completely contradictory things at the same time: • We have a budget surplus • We are in a “fiscal emergency.” Both cannot be true. But here’s the part that should outrage every Oakland voter: The so-called “surplus” appears to be coming from Measure NN funds. That means the city may be using money that voters approved specifically for public safety to patch holes in the general budget. Measure NN is crystal clear: ➡️ If Oakland does not budget for 700 sworn police officers, the Measure NN tax must stop for 12 months. Oakland currently has far fewer than 700 officers. Yet the city continues collecting the tax anyway. So let’s be clear about what's happening: • The city claims a surplus using Measure NN money • The city claims a fiscal emergency to avoid other obligations • And taxpayers continue paying a tax that should legally be paused That raises a serious legal question: Is Oakland violating the law voters passed?
