@JF0RSURE__ @beckenhamtownfc @bromleyfc I mean the announcement is literally “ahead of today’s game”……they’re paying tribute to the club’s mascot. How is it not related to football?

Some heartbreaking news to bring you ahead of today's game. Our beloved mascot Gareth passed away this morning 💔 Gareth moved to us from our neighbours @bromleyfc in 2022, made himself at home and brought us luck as we won the league. (1/2)

@wallsendredicko The dumbing down of sports programming and the rise of reactionary rentagobs regurgitating nonsense about “the big 6” put paid to any sort of intellectual content on television - see Sunday Supplement too.

This used to be a superb programme that has been destroyed by the BBC over the last few years.
Match of the Day@BBCMOTD

An incredible 52-year journey comes to an end. Following extensive consideration, BBC Sport has made the difficult decision to say goodbye to Football Focus at the end of this season. First broadcast in 1974, Football Focus is a testament to the brilliant team who have worked on it over the years and, of course, the audience. The programme has been a staple of the BBC’s football coverage for decades, providing fans with interviews, analysis and stories from across the game ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. But changing audience behaviours mean fans are now increasingly consuming football content in different ways and we need to respond appropriately as we face difficult decisions around how the licence fee is spent. Fans are accessing discussion, highlights, analysis and news through digital platforms and on-demand viewing and as viewing habits continue to evolve, it is right that BBC Sport adapts how it brings football coverage to the widest audiences across television, radio, online and to its extensive social platforms. BBC Sport boasts a strong football rights portfolio and is set to significantly expand its digital output this year growing content across BBC platforms, as well as a bold new slate of exclusive shows on YouTube. Featuring fresh formats, big personalities and more frequent, always-on content tailored for digital audiences, the expansion will bring fans closer to the game than ever before delivering more high-quality, accessible and engaging football coverage at scale. We will release further details on these plans in the coming months.

@MomasThorgan Never get it me. Never been a South Stander, never had any real want to be one, but always respected the RF from 2009 onwards, been massive for atmosphere in years gone by. We’re all Boro fans - focus on what unites us more than what divides us.

RF won’t listen says “kim hellbergs red and white army” Despite the; open fan forum online, fan nights in the past to voice opinions and gauge feeling, oh and you yknow, sitting in the same place every season. You lot just love to whinge for the sake of it cos we’re shit.

@MillwardShaine @Loulameg @RF08 Fully agree with this but the red faction won’t listen as they think they are better then everyone else😑

@Smithy_MFC84 Young lad who’s never been a first choice at this level before now, who has been solid for the most part. We’ve had a cracking season so nothing he’s done has really cost us, just a case of fine margins which a more experienced keeper might’ve coped better with.

Brynn debate alive and kicking. For me, been decent, nothing more, nothing less. Still young, may develop into a top GK, but let’s not kid ourselves that he’s been excellent. But nor should he be wrote off either. Hate how black and white everything has to be these days.#Boro

@BoroLee86 In a season where we’ve subverted so much of the typical Boro psyche, this is perhaps the most typical Boro thing we’ve done!

@wallsendredicko Don’t think anyone’s saying Sol is a poor keeper, he’s a young lad who will get better with time, in his first outing as a first choice at second tier level. It’s those fine margins which come with him being a young lad which lead to some of the flak, I think, unfortunately.

@RTM19999 @DarboEatsParmo I mean, you say this, but this assumes that Bamford either wasn’t happy with Sheff Utd, or that they weren’t going to offer him a deal. I see no reason why this would be the case. It’s not an either or, though - we could have and should have identified a number 9 in Jan.

@TeesExile @DarboEatsParmo He signed a longer deal in January with sheff Utd as he was on a short term deal at that stage. We had an opportunity to step in and sign him at the start of January and we chose not to. In hindsight it’s pretty clear we missed a good opportunity to get a proven striker in

@Loulameg @RF08 Think the tendency to try and create “new chants” over the years has led to our older chants being neglected. Definitely a bit of an atmospheric disconnect where younger fans don’t know the old songs etc. Different generation too - those original RF lads are mid-30s now.

Whilst I know the performance on the pitch was poor last night I have to say the performance in the stands was equally as poor. That South Stand is a shadow of its former wonderful self from a few years ago. Really felt for the @RF08 lads, they tried everything, especially in

@RTM19999 @DarboEatsParmo Yes, but he’d signed for Sheff Utd by then. My point isn’t that we didn’t need a number 9, it’s that when Bamford signed for Sheff Utd, we were playing in a side adapting to Edwards (but performing) where the need for pure firepower wasn’t quite evident.

@Zebdee615433 @Brandonmfccc @danielbrundl3 No, I’m aware. Just saying that simplifying it purely to PSR makes it seem quite a literal statement because we’re quite a bit off breaching it. A lot of it comes down to the fact investing in football is a mug’s game.

Loved the babyface celebration in the ring after Darby’s win. More of that, please. One of the things the Attitude Era destroyed was the idea that all the babyfaces are friends who support each other. (And even the heels are mostly tenuous allies). A little corny? Maybe. So what?

@Zebdee615433 @Brandonmfccc @danielbrundl3 It’s not just down to PSR to be fair. When Gibson has invested overly heavily in recent years, Monk and Strachan burned a hole in his pocket. When you’re no longer the richest in town, would you repeatedly subject yourself to the torment of watching people waste your money?

@danielbrundl3 @GraemeBandeira We wouldn’t have seen them at all without him! You’d think we were some international super club the way some fans go on. 150 years, one major trophy, four major finals, in that time. All of those in 9 years thanks to a Park End lad who dared to dream.

@DarboEatsParmo People like that guy are a big part of the reason as to why we've failed for 16 consecutive years. They just laugh it up and at the end of every season they say "oh well onto next season"

@ar28071966 @Loulameg I don’t think the issue is Mr Scott not having played the game, it’s that they’re evidently not recruiting managers with an existing squad in mind. Michael Edwards did the business for Liverpool for example, once upon a time.

@helieboro Think a lot of this is recency bias, Helen. I felt far more despondent in the Strachan days. We at least have solid players beyond the wonderful Mr Hackney to pin our collective hopes upon!

Had some shit times as a Boro fan the last 40 years. Relegation’s,missing out on promotions, cup final/semi final defeats, the nearly’s (Cardiff FA cup 1/4), Pulis football, the Strachen team (omg that team) but how we’ve capitulated this season is a new ‘typical Boro’ low 😔

Here’s the reality - January came and went with no real backing because Steve Gibson isn’t pushing for promotion. He’s fine maintaining things as they are, covering losses while staying in control. Promotion would mean spending big, and he just hasn’t got the appetite for it.
Alan Darbo@DarboEatsParmo

Steve Gibson will be delighted. Record season ticket renewals at sky high prices, he won’t have to find £150m to invest in premier league players and his ownership remains unquestioned because the old guard will defend him “cos 86”. Well done. You’ve all been played.
