@WilliamShatner @facebook And yet my Facebook account was flagged twice for suspicious content even though it had no content. It is the one social media site I have absolutely no reason for or interest in using.

I wanted to put this out yesterday but given the day and the possibility that it would look like a joke I waited for today. There is a page on @facebook that is using AI to create horrible fake news stories about me. The page is by The Beanstalk Functions Group which is allegedly an Event Planner in South Africa. (facebook.com/beanstalkfunct… ) They have created stories that say I have stage 4 brain cancer, was in some kind of fight with Erika Kirk and that I’m dying. All their stories are monetized. Most of the stories use an AI image of me. Facebook Support will not remove the page. Each story is accompanied by a website link in the post that is hosted on @nextjs where some of you may have seen my post to the CEO of that company asking him to remove these fake stories. None of these stories are true but they apparently seem genuine enough for fans to repost them across social media and send messages of support to me and my family all while the culprits behind the account make money. This is the downside of AI and yellow journalism. While can be a wonderful tool in the right hands; it can be used as a weapon in the wrong hands. If you see a bizarre story about me; unless you see it posted on one of my verified accounts take it with a grain of salt.

The appeal was filed by Theresa Flandrich, a member of Telegraph Hill Dwellers. Aaron Peskin’s wife, Nancy Shanahan, is also a member of that group.

@cremieuxrecueil I agree with Kelsey Piper when she argued that one of the reasons experts have lost the trust of the electorate is a lack of accountability, including a lack of consequences for scientific fraud.

Remember when a bunch of people got mad at me for saying it was good that China was prosecuting scientific fraud? It's good that China prosecutes scientific fraud. America should prosecute scientific fraud.

@peterrhague Which is the one thought I have about this war. One can debate the merits/strategy/consequences of the war in Iran, but the risk and folly of depending on Middle Eastern supply chains and fossil fuels that are fungible with Middle Eastern fuels was obvious for decades.

This is the natural endpoint of European policy. The crisis just accelerated things

@bscholl Which leaves me the same reaction as when that MUNI driver fell asleep at the wheel, thinking that there will be a time when our children will be surprised that we ever let meatbags manually land at airports or manage dozens/hundreds of aircraft.

I’m all for safety, and also this is a bad call. We are fixing the wrong problems.

@DennisJCarmody @MCCCANM The bigger issue is that both LAX and SEA are boxed in and LAX in particular is limited by agreement with surrounding communities in the number of gates it can have.

@Themalcus @MCCCANM LAX and SEA are in my opinion great airports that run quite smoothly in most circumstances. Honestly, SFO runs (ran?) great most of the time too except when weather limited operations.

I’m hearing unsubstantiated rumors that parallel visuals are no longer allowed at SFO. I suspected runway construction, but that’s not it…rumor says permanently over. Also hearing they will permanently reduce the arrival capacity. Can anyone verify?

@DennisJCarmody @MCCCANM Considering SFO, SAN, LAX, SEA, etc. I have little confidence in any airports on the West Coast and wonder, especially given the lack of HSR, how air travel will continue to function to any acceptable level.

@Themalcus @MCCCANM Oh it absolutely is. A lot of these airports are at max capacity for arrivals departures and room on the ground. How SAN functions at all is beyond me. At least complexity is low with one runway and fairly decent weather.

@MCCCANM And I thought San Diego was a mess waiting to happen.

@Themalcus If it’s true & they permanent reduced the arrival rate…it will be a mess until people start going elsewhere.

@ThePrimalDino I will say that the fact that we are returning humans to the Moon in a few days hasn't hit me yet.

Real talk time guys. I’m going to preface this by saying I too am guilty of this, just as Tim and the rest of the spaceflight influencers are, as I have only published on Artemis II video that I had planned thus far. And so I include myself in this group, but the reason nobody is aware of this mission is because we haven’t been making ANY content about this mission. AT ALL. Tim and others such as WAI and Marcus house have no videos about Artemis II on their channels. Scott has one KSP video about it (as do I) and I’ve seen a few others with one or two videos but that’s IT. Spaceflight influencers have enormously FAILED the everyday person. We haven’t properly produced the content that would otherwise have gotten millions of people talking about this event. It’s honestly shameful. We’ve been asking for decades “when will we return to the Moon” and then when it finally happened, we remained silent about it. It’s a sad state of affairs, and the next time we go to the Moon, it MUST be different.
