Why I am advocating for preemptive noncompliance in regards to the eID mandate. A thread.

@sovernTranch In Montana we still have thousands of acres of weak pastures dominated by club moss from overgrazing by sheep 100 years ago. Sheep can do a lot for the land if properly managed, but will do more damage than cattle if mismanaged.

@riley_sides Was looking this morning, Kansas has had the greatest reduction in cow numbers the last few years, and continues to shrink it's cow herd faster than any other state

We grow corn, wheat, milo singular, but soybeans plural. Why?

@reelangus Lots I'm hoping! Actually starting to see a few used ones popping up but they are still unaffordable. If I thinned timber and cleared brush like I want to, I think I could run another 30-40 pair

New brush clearing and land management companies seem to popping up everyday. Makes you wonder how many used drum mulchers will be available in 2-3 years.

Before anyone calls me retarded, keep in mind that at $0.50 diesel, every field gets rolled after a snow, every field gets an extra tillage pass, and ethanol plants close

In January 2026, U.S. factory activity expanded for the first time in two years. America surpassed Japan in steel production for the first time since 1999. This is what it looks like when you fight for it. This is winning.

The average American spends 2.25% to 3% of their income on fuel. With the current increase in prices that is now 2.75% to 4%. A 1% drop in expendable income is enough to make many Americans panic, lose their spine, and in some cases, go full Benedict Arnold. Noted.

@ThinkethSo @JerodMcDaniel I hadn't given it a thought... If pressed I suppose I'd mumble something about there being more cows in Texas than in all of Canada and probably roll my eyes.

@AgroNationalism Like potatoes, you can't really harvest onions without heavy tillage. Even if you picked by hand, you're still ripping them out of the ground, essentially tilling. And it looks like he had sandy loam to start with.

@JerodMcDaniel I know folks get bristly whenever a guy mentions government involvement within a mile of cattle production... But some low interest, long termed government money for cattle production infrastructure is the key in my opinion to maintaining/rebuilding the domestic cowherd.

@OrinRomine Yeah sucks for farmers, but is a negligible/optional expense for many Americans. Farmer friend of mine just bought his whole years worth of fuel just the other day, will be interesting to see if that was the right choice!

Well, I’d wager eating out and things like coffees would more than compensate. I’m not worried about it personally, but most those I do know who are worried sure hit the drive through and coffee places heavily. We burn just under a transport load a month on the farm side. It sure stings on that side of the house. Bought a load a couple weeks ago. 3.84.

@ThinkethSo I think it's a bit like food. It's one of the rare things you have the illusion of control because you pay as you use, and it's very tangible. So when things that are punctual and abstract (like insurance premiums) get tight you think you will save on food and gas.

@Empty_America It is difficult to define happiness in one's own life, in one's own language, let alone get good consistent answers with the same meaning out of other languages. Are you happy or joyful? Glück or Freude?
