@JLRichy Wrong. Threre are over a dozen individuals who had surgeries who were in a vehicle with no contact. There were sensors on some of these trucks.

I am glad to see justice was served today when two attorneys were found guilty for their role in the multi-million dollar staged accident ring out of New Orleans. This trial shows how systemic insurance fraud can be, involving all types of bad actors, from attorneys and medical providers to criminals willing to cause accidents on Louisiana roads. These schemes are not only dangerous—they also drive up the cost of insurance for all drivers. I am committed to working with our law enforcement partners to stop criminals like these and make Louisiana a national leader in the fight against insurance fraud.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗽: 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀. This article in @theadvocatebr describes a trial in New Orleans with testimony from a “slammer” – a person who deliberately drove his car into 18-wheelers to collect big insurance payouts. 𝗜𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀: 🦈 “If you paid the slammers directly, you could 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘄𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗴𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀.” 🦈 “I started slamming. 𝗢𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲. I had it all. I had the whole situation.” 🦈 The slammer testified that an attorney (who represented him) “knew the collisions were staged. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀: $𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 with an 18-wheeler, $500 for regular staged accidents.” 💥 The slammer said he, “was 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀 by another accused slammer who also has pleaded guilty in the sprawling federal probe dubbed “Operation Sideswipe.” 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱: Three or four passengers to a car, one person would check their driver’s licenses and proof of insurance to ensure they could cash in. Riding off in an ambulance was to be avoided on the advice of the lawyers. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: buff.ly/buGyGfD

Great article covering Florida’s tort reform success in @RiskInformation’s latest Auto Insurance Report: “The reality is that the reforms exceeded all expectations and continue to do so, so we’ll see more good news like this,” Insurance Commissioner Michael Yaworsky said in a recent interview. “This is a very dynamic and challenging marketplace. There have been challenges, and there will be challenges. We need to keep continuing to refine the system and make it better for our consumers. But this was a major victory, there’s no doubt about it, for consumers in Florida.” Read more here: riskinformation.com

Thank you to State Representative @MikeBayham and @TalbotforLA for inviting me to speak to residents of Chalmette about insurance and the work being done to lower rates. One example is the great work done by 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝘆 and others to upgrade the Parish’s Building Code Effectiveness Classification.
