@TheRyanMazur @tomfgoodwin I also lament that we can't use em dashes now. This is why we can't have nice things. Lately, I've been falling back to its less fashioned cousin, the semicolon.

@tomfgoodwin I’ve used em dashes for 20 years. Love them. Now every time I see one I think “AI”. I'm ready to start using hyphens instead, just to prove there’s still a human at the other end. I’ll take the heat from the grammar purists.

Does anyone have a good explanation to why the em dash (—) is rendered out so much by LLMs The explanation is always that it's in the training data a lot. I don't think that's true at all. And why is it so hard to get LLM's to stop using them?
